I'm not sure where to post this but this seems to be the best place!? Anyways I whole heartily support this movement happening around the world but I was downtown yesterday showing my supporting for the cause and the general consensus from the people that approached me was "WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT", they were CONFUSED as to WHAT THE MAIN ISSUE IS with the Occupy Movement. Don’t get me wrong I get it and I think most of the supporters of the movement get it but I think if this is going to be a success we have to have a SIMPLE and CLEAR message that the average person can gasp and understand. For this to be a success we need more of the 99% to support us!! I think with a clear and simple message of what this is all about we can get support from those sitting on the fence. I also think that these simple and clear messages MUST be displayed where people can see them. I walked thru and around the tent city yesterday and to be honest I saw nothing much that spoke to the purpose of the cause nothing that would make me want to stand with you if I knew nothing of the cause. I do not mean to offend any of you at the site or anyone that has been involved but to gain support I think this is needed. My suggestion:

We, the 99%, take action against the greed and corruption of the 1%.

Also if we are collecting donations perhaps some of that can be used for such posters and they could be added as a resource for others? Are there any artists out there with ideas???

Just trying to think of ideas to help us gain support and unite the cause!!!

How about "The System is Broken. You can help fix it. YOU are the 99%"

I whole heartedly agree.
We need a large water proof sign stating our demands clearly and concisely and a central location where interested parties can come forward and ask questions. this means we need volunteers. volunteers who are ready to sit in on a training time so that everyone is on the same page.

the question here is: Is there anyone leading this thing? Unfortunately when you become organized you have to have leaders. it's like an army. if you are going to do battle get prepared.

Many people agree with the basic fact that the gov't is not handling our tax payers dollars appropriately and the like but we must come across as organized and smart. Not like a bunch of hippies who just smoke dope and don't go to work every morning.
On one hand we must show our love and committment to a sovereign Canada but on the other we must show that we are willing to get involved and cause change within gov't and that we clearly represent all canadians.

A general call to anyone who is a lawyer or already connected in the political arena that we could engage would be beneficial. there are lawyers out there who care. we just need to get them on our side.

people who are constructive and effective are usually very busy people and don't have time to waste so it is lucrative to communicate the movement in a simple explanatory way.
and the demands must be realistic.

the other thing I think worth discussing is to have some kind of internal patrollers at the occupy site.

Why make demands? why not come up with concrete solutions and actively work to build an alternate economy? Many peeps who support occupy outside the encampment are professionals or like myself small business operators who actively pursue barter, labour exchange, etc. Time and time again movements or 'micro movements' are created that bark demands but offer no alternative or attempt to build solutions or forge alliances. Through conversation, cooperation and creativity the answers are within our reach, one only need take hold of them.

You don't like banks, take your money and business to a Credit Union, You don't like multinational corporations, support local independant business, You want good clean food get off you ass and down to a farmers market, farmers food too expensive barter with them, talk to them. Get out of your comfort zone and talk to strangers in person we may suprise you.
