Class 5 = High School (car)
Class 4 = 2 years College (limo)
Class 3 = BA (Truck)
Class 2 = Masters (Large Bus)
Class 1 = PhD (Semi-trailer)

Got the Class 4 recently, landed some PT chauffeur work on the sidea. Good for 10-20 hours a week.

So next, maybe try to get a Class 2 or 3 license, then gradually move up.

a way of making a few xtra bucks on the side.

I dunno, just an idea. S'pose it's only worth it if the money can be made up for the time & costs it takes to get these licenses.

It's pretty easy, Shar. Just get dressed in a suit & tie, smile at the customer, make sure they get to where they're going on time. Think of it as a parent being able to get paid every time they drove the family car & dropped their Kid off at school every morning. I'm sure a lotta parents would go for that, eh?

I made $50 in just 1 hour of work on the weekend, including tips. That was just picking up somebody from their airport, dropping them DT. Can't think of an easier way to make money than that. Some drivers even make $100 for that same trip, depending on the client they get. $100 an hour for driving someone DT? Seems incredible, so the client would pay $2-300 for that small trip.

It's just PT work, tho', about 10 hours a week.

Dude, mass murderers come from all walks of life and hold down various jobs. Trucking comes into play, since it has a high employment rate compared to other industries. Basically there are a lot of truck drivers on the road. Law of averages. The odds that one will be the killer is pretty low, taking into account total employees hired and working. Does it happen? of course it does. Postal clerks go nuts too, however...

Remember, I don't drive long haul. People always have the misconception that all truck drivers are pulling Smokey and the Bandit shit on their Highway long haul runs.

My job is within the city on an hourly wage (just like Souperchecker in his bus). Home every day, and work a Monday to Friday day shift, like normal people.

I'm never totally certain where I am on the road when I'm in those things.

So an 80' 100' trailer must be 10X worse.

Might take it a step at a time. Do the Class 3 test, then 2, then 1.

But even then just as a skill, rather than a daily job.

Yes, it's possible to eavesdrop on them, but they also have the option of shutting you out, by requesting that the partition be pulled up so you can't hear them. Then there's a phone/intercom device connecting you with the back so they can do whatever in the back contact you when the need it.. Most of these vehicles have some wine/liquid cooler in the seating area. The floor can be lit up at night. You can't hear the people in the back, because often the distance is so far from the front driver to the farthest rear seat. In a 40' vehicle, it's like them being seated on the other side of a large room. The passengers look microscopic in the mirror the farther they sit back.



mind you, you should make sure that all the options you request are in the vehicle. Some carry all the bells and whistles, some have just a partial list. So the vehicle you request should have all the features you have in mind so you get what you pay for. I've even heard that some had a jacuzzi in the back.

A series of unsolved murders and disappearances of young women has earned the route the nickname the "Highway of Tears" along the 800 km (500 mi) section of highway between Prince George and Prince Rupert.[1] [2] Official sources list the number of victims at 18, but Inuit leaders estimate the number could be as high as 43[3]. I'd probably give the odd person a ride for free around the block or across the bridge - as long as the boss aint lookin'. a short distance wouldn't hurt.

sometimes, they drive people pretty far in those things - banff, whistler.

If you can master the 40' limo, you can master any Class 3 or 2 vehicle, since they are limited to 45' in length here in BC anyhow. Realistically, a 40' commercial straight truck would be easier for you, since they actually have proper side mirrors. You can actually judge where you are in the lane via mirror much better than any automotive type side mirror.

Remember, the only real difference between a Class 3 and 2 is the ability to carry passengers with a 2.

So, just forget about the Class 2, unless you want to drive a bus. Focus on a Class 3, or ideally a Class 1 if you feel you are ready to pull a trailer. No need to waste extra time and money.

Honestly, when you are comfortable driving around a 40' limo, you are ready to take the next step and just get your Class 1.

I've ridden in limos. But never alone (which I think I'd prefer). When others are around, it's like being in a locker room (as it usually is when public figures have a chance to vent their spleen away from prying eyes and ears).

Never touched limo booze, though. Just not much of a drinker.

I find the black sedans more appealing. They're just as roomy and smooth and I get a chance to chat with the driver in those idle moments when the VIPs are out doing whatever it is that VIPs do.

In either case, I'm sort of just along for the ride, I guess. Call me eye candy.

Good luck on obtaining your Driving PhD, Joe. It'll be a relief, I'm sure, to be able to ditch the training wheels.
