What bugs me is that these muslims are enemies of the nations that they want to immigrate too and feel that it is their duty to be at war with the nations that are stupid enough to let them in, Can't first world nations find enough immigrants who will be patriotic to their adoptive nation ?

does anyone else find it odd that people are just mulling about? look at the lady who walks up behind the guy in the black coat. he's holding two bloody knives, blood on his hands and she just walks on by.

EDIT: Or the guy filming for that matter. How does he know he's not next. Why is he filming and not getting outta there?

was wondering the same. It is very strange ... weird in fact. No way anyone sane would stick around and film close up with an armed murderer .... and his partner had a gun

Maybe the filming was one of the crew and that part was pre-planned. Also, why did they stick around waiting to be shot by police, unless that was the plan ... for martyrdom

Requests to Potential Witnesses

While a number of potential witnesses have been successfully contacted, a number have not responded to letters and may have moved address. A significant number remain to be traced.

Any military personnel who were engaged at Danny Boy, were present at Camp Abu Naji on 14th & 15th of May 2004 and/or connected to the Detention Facilities at Shaibah between 15th May and 23rd September 2004 should contact the Inquiry without delay (Tom Foley 020 7025 4478 or email Tom.Foley@alsweadyinquiry.org). Any person who is unsure as to whether or not they may be a witness, is requested please to check with the Inquiry.

The Chairman is grateful to those who responded to his earlier request that those who may have information relevant to his terms of reference contact the Inquiry, and to those who have responded to correspondence. 19 January 2011.

In a written statement given on Wednesday 25 November 2009, the Secretary of State for Defence, The Rt Hon Bob Ainsworth MP announced that there would be a public inquiry in to the allegations that Iraqi nationals were detained after a firefight with British soldiers in Iraq in 2004 and unlawfully killed at a British camp, and that others had been mistreated at that camp and later at a detention facility.

The Inquiry is established under the Inquiries Act 2005 and is chaired by the Sir Thayne Forbes, a retired High Court judge. His terms of reference are:

"To investigate and report on the allegations made by the claimants in the Al- Sweady judicial review proceedings against British soldiers of (1) unlawful killing at Camp Abu Naji on 14 and 15 May 2004, and (2) the ill-treatment of five Iraqi nationals detained at Camp Abu Naji and subsequently at the divisional temporary detention facility at Shaibah Logistics Base between 14 May and 23 September 2004, taking account of the investigations which have already taken place, and to make recommendations".

In due course the Chairman will set out how he intends to conduct the Inquiry and will make requests for specific assistance. Until he has made such requests and determined any applications received for funding in respect of that assistance, no fees or other expenses incurred by any person will be paid for by the Inquiry.

Inquiry to examine claims that British troops murdered and tortured Iraqi civilians
Claims that British troops murdered and tortured civilians nine years ago during the war in Iraq are being examined at a long-awaited inquiry starting today.

The Al-Sweady Inquiry is examining claims that UK soldiers murdered 20 or more Iraqis and tortured detainees after the "Battle of Danny Boy" in Maysan Province, southern Iraq, in May 2004.

The inquiry, chaired by former High Court judge Sir Thayne Forbes, is taking place in central London - some three years after it was ordered - with an opening statement from counsel to the inquiry Jonathan Acton Davis QC.

The inquiry is named after 19-year-old Hamid Al-Sweady, one of those who died after a firefight between UK soldiers and insurgents at a checkpoint named Danny Boy on May 14, 2004.

It will look into allegations of unlawful killing at UK base Camp Abu Naji on May 14 and 15 2004, and alleged ill-treatment of five Iraqi nationals at the camp and at a detention facility at Shaibah Logistics Base in Iraq between May 14 and September 23 that year.

The allegations have been vigorously denied by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The inquiry will be the second examination of the case after an earlier Royal Military Police inquiry was judged inadequate by high court judges following a legal battle by Mr Al-Sweady's uncle and five Iraqis who claim they were abused by British troops after the firefight.

Since it was ordered in 2009, the inquiry team has trawled through mountains of evidence, as well as taking statements from Iraqi witnesses in Beirut and Istanbul, as well as from military witnesses.

Some 15 Iraqis will travel to the UK to give evidence to the inquiry later this month, including Hamid Al-Sweady's uncle Khuder Al-Sweady as well as several detainees.

A further 45 Iraqis, including relatives and medical staff will give evidence via videolink from the British Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon.
