Easiest to the Most difficult Latin Languages for learning & Travel

Unread post by J0E »

Having taken some courses, here's a list I thought might be relevant for those contemplating taking any of them.

Spanish has the simplest phonology and grammar (with Portuguese as a close contender in the grammar side).

French has the most recognizable words by their spelling, but both its grammar and its phonology are scarier

Easiest to Hardest to Learn and speak properly:

1. Spanish (Easiest)
2. Italian (Next Easiest)
3. French (Harder)
4. Portuguese (Hardest)

I know there may be other languages which belong to this family, such as Romanian, but I'm not familiar with it, so I don't know how it would be ranked in terms of difficulty.

Anyone with any experience at learning them how can offer a cross-comparison?

Portuguese isn't hard :)

I think french is harder. Portuguese has relaxed pronunciation compared to italian and spanish.

I find French hard because there are a lot of phrases that I can't get a handle of.

I think people claim that Portuguese is hard because of verb conjugation. I haven't gone that far with the language. I just find it easy to understand.

Get in on it.
