yeah so i mentioned nugu (indie) kpop groups recently. this nugu group's latest comeback has sold a little over 350 albums in the first two days of sale. meanwhile (g)i-dle's second album debuted at #4 on billboards top US album sales chart selling 8500 albums. not bad for what is essentially a nugu group in america without any promotion at all.

so this (g)i-dle song is noir for sure. the video is shockingly noir even if you don't know the full back story. for those of us that do know the full story we tend to make the meaning extra noir. it's actually quite cathartic.

(g)i-dle sells records in the darnedest places. (g)i-dle were ranked 8th and 7th respectively in hungary and portugal for physical album sales. i'd really like to know what record sales are like in russia and china since (g)i-dle is popular in both of those places.

the trick to starting a good band is to have a decent drummer. which is why chodan is the q in qwer. that being said it's fun to watch the rest of these girls learn their instruments as chodan learns how to be a leader. it's also kinda neat to watch them all learning how to bee idols in real time which is a thing in itself in idol fandom.

for example. if you watched i've's wonyoung from early days until now you'll see she's become the ultimate idol. certainly wonyoung has been hyped as such since the beginning of her career. they used to call her a once in a generation idol so you can imagine the pressure.

wow, (g)i-dle just scored a perfect all kill on the korean charts. this is the 4th consecutive album to receive one. congrats soyeon, your song virally climbed the charts with almost no promotion and it's a b-side as well.

soyeon recorded this version of oh my god for an idol reality show that she participated in during (g)i-dles enforced hiatus. this was when soojin was being falsely accused yet vilified to the point where she had to leave the group. which also meant (g)i-dle had to lay low as group for a year to avoid backlash.

i wish this video had proper subs so you can read the lyrics to soyeon's searing rendition of oh my god. the most important line being, you all thought we were going to die, right? but never i never. not coincidentally (g)-dle's next album was called i never die.

this is a new modhaus group where the idols were all part of modhaus's creative director's last group called loona. this artms pre-release song reboots the concept and fans are over the moon because they were directly involved with the process using blockchain and voting.

Pre-debut LOONA was the reason I wanted to go to art school and get into photography and videography. Last september I finally took the plunge and decided to enroll myself in photography. Now with ARTMS, this music video along with their concept is exactly where I'd like to see myself in the future. This isn't like generic kpop. This is what I'd genuinely describe as artistic and experimental. Wow.
