Cleaning out the fridge. Having to take out all the food and put it back. Taking out the drawers to wash. Getting into the nooks and crannies. Also grease from around the stove vent.

I don't mind dishes. I stay on top of them always. Soon as I'm done cooking or eating I wash em. There are never dirty dishes sitting around my place. Something I picked up later in life.

I don't mind dishes...or cleaning out the fridge.
My nightmare chore is cleaning OVEN RACKS. These things were designed to make you mental. MENTAL I TELL YA. :D

Chore is the name given to an activity (usually repetitive) by those not fully vested in the moments of their lives;
they do 'it' even if their heart is not in 'it',
and they do 'it' because they have to do 'it',
not because they want to do 'it'.

There are no chores for an individual who understands that no moments are ever the same
and washing dishes is a different and fresh experience every time the dishes get washed,
different dishes,
different day,
different weather,
different mood,
different clothes,
different company,
different ambient sounds,
different visual stimuli.
different thoughts,
different synaptic activity.
Everything different.

No day,
no hour,
no minute,
no second
is exactly the same as the previous one.

Each dishwashing is as unique as the next.
The goal is the same: clean dishes,
but getting there is never exactly the same.

I too also clean dishes after we are done. I don't like the pile up and I prefer to have a clean and tidy kitchen. I will admit, I'm a little OCD that things need to be returned to its place.

My dishes have been in more abundance than normal. My kids bf comes over a lot and there's more dishes now. But I put up with it because I actually like the guy and my kid is very happy with him. But they do occasionally wash them. I don't mind cleaning up after them because he's in university and my kid is still in school. I still hate dishes, but go to school or work, I don't mind doing them...but it's not my fav chore.

I like vacuuming tho! I like seeing the amount of cat hair I'm getting....I always check the canister for cat whiskers before I throw it out...I collect cat whiskers.

Trying to sparkle up my range to sell. So spent the day cleaning the racks. The WHOLE day. And for the amount of effort and energy, I'm not all that impressed with the end result. The oven clean was easy...but the racks ! wtf ? :sneaky:
Bought a new induction range, although there is nothing wrong with what we have, I've become accustomed to induction. But the racks !!!!
Who designed this nonsense. Clearly not anybody who has to clean them.

Perhaps by some, but not by all.
The act of cleaning a fridge can be transformed into a meditative experience;
it all comes down to how you perceive the activities you engage in.

I once dated this guy...he liked to go to garage sales and bring trash home. One day he bought an old campers stove....he asked me to clean it so we could use it....I don't know what he was thinking, because the entire element was rusted to shit and the grill was shot....why did he buy it? Why would I spend all day cleaning this shit when the cost of a new one at the time was about $30.

I hooked that thing up to the gas to check it out...and only one little flame in the element lit up :D ....I tossed it in the garbage and bought a new one...he got mad at me. I will never understand.

I never caught myself spending more than an hour to shine my oven racks.
I know you'd never admit being wrong,
but I say, if it takes all day to clean oven racks,
you're doing something wrong.

Cleaning out a festy esky... fish smells, stale beer, et cetera

They've got to be chlorine bombed multiple times to rid them of lingering odor.

Firstly...I've never been shy about admitting when I'm wrong. Ever.
I can't argue with why it took me all day to achieve what you can do in an hour. But what is it that I'm doing wrong, would be more helpful than just telling me that I'm doing it wrong. =)

If you have junk from the old country, things not available in North America, I would research the junk online for potential collectability before 'throwing' anything out.

Ha! Ditto except I really don’t mind kitchen chores. I like anything involving tableware and I enjoy cooking and baking. What do I dislike the most? Maybe vacuuming. I can only do it in 5 minute sprints. And during busy weeks those daily sprints turn into weekly or longer. The floor ends up looking horrible. 😱
