Yes, always clean, wipe, and factory reset the things if used.
I cleaned one for a woman once she got from a pawn shop, it had 240 viruses, and other bad things, and 7 remote accesses to it.
The porn on it was just disgusting stuff, scat, rapes, and fetish oriented garbage.
It had been deleted before sold to her, but was in the backup files.
