Re: Mel's hole

I know of three cousins in my family that are hair dressers, and one want to be. One mechanic, one contractor, several nurses, one stay at home lawyers assistant, a teacher, and one lot of sorry do nothings. I myself used to be a do it all Maintenance person till I got on at Ford, and now useless b...

Re: Mel's hole

Record-high lumber prices add as much as $30K to the cost of building a house Covid has affected pretty much anything construction related... Lumber tripling or even quadrupling in price. I had a hard time even finding cedar trees to finish off a hedge: The nursery said they'd never seen anything l...

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?

I noticed that fluffy tail... oh, those electrical wires indoors, yep... no way of knowing what they've chewed I 'spose. :( They sound like hamsters on the loose. I'd be worried too I think about electrical fire risks. This was another problem, as my shop is wired up with electricity! I had really ...

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?

Chipmunks here are like that, cute, but very destructive pest. I have had to remove a lot of those over the years, one ate the seal off my garage door, and started on my car wiring. The rat started chewing the insulation on the firewall in my truck's engine bay! That's when I really knew he needed ...

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?

What a cute little rat... From a distance it's easy to confuse them with a small squirrel, because of bushy tail! This particular packrat is actually one of only a few species of rats that's actually native to North America, being found only in Western Canada and Western US... which is why they're ...

The stainless I can understand as long as it is a brushed satin or beed blasted stainless to cut down on glare....Plastic is just shit...Years ago laminated wood was the up and coming thing for all weather protection. A lot of it looked pretty good too. But it's more labor intensive and expensive t...

What I cannot stand are all the plastic stocks. And let's call it what it is shall we? It's not "synthetic", it's not "technopolymer" or some shit like that...IT'S FUCKING PLASTIC and it looks like SHIT. It's used in replace of wood because it saves tons on money to manufacture ...

Trapping may still be the best non-lethal action then... Pic below is a Pack Rat I trapped, just before releasing him into his new environment many miles away from me and other people. I modified this trap to have a hair-trigger, and he was captured in one day, while all other efforts had previously...

Re: The Scam-Bags

My tactic? When they ask for my info, I say "Just a minute, let me go grab my wallet." I then leave the phone off the hook while I go do something else. Sometimes I leave the phone off the hook for a couple of hours. This tactic has drastically cut down the amount of shit calls I receive!

Re: ..Guns Guns & More Guns

I just hate how hard it is to get a nice finish anymore, and everyone seems to be sold on that unfinished crap they said they will like. I sure miss the nice guns I used to see in the 70s, you got nice nickle, and stainless then. A lot of what it is is the gun makers are telling people that is what...

On a somewhat related note, I see Colt is making the Python again. Wonder how it stacks up to the original? Just like S&W, they even thought about us poor chumps north of the border and designed the shorter barreled version as a 4.25" instead of the standard 4"

Re: ..Guns Guns & More Guns

I guess you can't go wrong with the Mossy for the price! Might not have Italian grade fit & finish, but you won't get that for $1,000. Plus it's American made, which is probably preferable over Turk made, but these days that's no guarantee either it seems...

Re: ..Guns Guns & More Guns

How about a Breda? Might be on the upper end of your budget range, but they're Italian made from what I can tell... There's a dealer in Mullica Hill, so you can go and check 'em out! Or maybe the Franchi Affinity 3? It's defo in your budget range, and apparently made in Italy as well (barrels made b...

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?

There's no easy solution to the problem. Pet owners are lazy, and pets themselves have a horrible grasp of 'property lines,' since property lines don't exist to most animals... A couple of dogs have been shot dead in my small rural community here wandering into the wrong yard, which is actually lega...

Re: ..Guns Guns & More Guns

I would trust the Italian made one more than the Turkish one, a lot of the Turkish makers are good don't get me wrong, but there is a lot of bad ones also. I agree. The Italian Fabarm may cost $1,000 more than the Turk SKB, but it may be worth it. Of course Renee didn't actually give us a budget th...
