Muddy girl camo, and with Hello Kitty on the side.

Yeah cheep is cheep even if called something else, but you pay high dollar for it just like with good stuff.
It's a big scam everyone settles for.
It's funny, the airsoft guns look much better anymore, and you can get those chrome, and with nice wood.

I don't like 'synthetic' stocks either, but I do think they have a purpose for some uses... If a hunter is going to be standing out in the rain all day, you probably can't beat a stainless steel rifle with a plastic stock for durability.

The stainless I can understand as long as it is a brushed satin or beed blasted stainless to cut down on glare....Plastic is just shit...Years ago laminated wood was the up and coming thing for all weather protection. A lot of it looked pretty good too. But it's more labor intensive and expensive to make than injection molded plastic crap. And that's exactly what it is,...crap and there ain't no churching it up any other way.

Exactly..Not only does that "muddy girl" shit look ridiculous, I think it's dangerous as well. It makes a firearm look all too much like a toy and as you know, not everyone is smart enough or diligent enough to store their guns safely away from little curious hands....Also on average, you are only saving maybe a couple hundred bucks by going plastic instead of wood...AND in some cases the damn ugly, stupid looking camo is more expensive than traditional wood, mainly because many of the gun makers have gone to crappy low grade crate wood on there more reasonably priced guns.

I always liked wood stocks, the nice looking good wood of course, the painted thing just look stupid to me.
If I was a sniper maybe I would go for something else, but I'm not, and Carlos Hathcock didn't need a painted up gun, if you know who he is.

If memory serves Hathcock would have used a 30-06 Winchester model 70, probably post 64 which was a standard issue sniper rifle for the US military in Vietnam. It was probably equipped with a Unertl scope, a military grade wood stock with some kind of grey or black parkerization on the barrel and action. As I also recall, Hathcock was attached to the 1st Marine Div. same as my dad.

I believe he used his own rifle he bought at the PX, I don't remember though.
I like hos others brag now about killing more people, but he did it without a cannon, and they do it with much better optics, and a spotter.

He could very well have bought is own rifle at a PX. I know my dad bought a model 70 in Okinawa and sent it home before shipping out to Nam. The rifle was a 30-60 with the typical unertl scope with the recoil spring on it. I believe he still has it.

If that is indeed Hathcock's rifle, it doesn't look standard issue. Most of the model 70s had heavy target barrels but then again, some didn't. During the earlier part of the war, the Marine Corp searched all the PXs in the south pacific for any bolt action hunting guns they could get their hands on. Before that they were using old 03 Springfields and modified M1 Garands as sniper weapons.

I believe the marines used the model 70 target model extensively. They glass bedded the stocks and put 8x or 10x unertl scopes on them...They were fucking deadly. They also used the Remington M40 but I believe that was after 1968. The pic of the US marine sniper looks like a he is holding a Remington.

Modern adjustable triggers such as the Savage "accutrigger" that are now available for many commercially available center fire rifles have pretty much made set triggers obsolete for a lot of the applications they were once considered useful for.

Of the 12 or so rifles I have in my collection, only two have set triggers one is .45 cal Hatfield Squirrel rifle ... the other is a customized Ruger No 1 in .220 Swift.

What do you use the Flinter for? As a prop in those renaissance plays?

It's a percussion rifle. I used to dabble in black powder shooting.

It would be way out of period to use for a prop at a Renn Faire. The only firearm props allowed are smooth bore match locks.

Funny he didn't want stricter immigration since it was his Boss Obama who let the shooter in country without vetting from Syria.
He's an ISIS supporter, and likely was one of them who killed over there, and raped people.
