That is exactly what we as gun owners should do for buy backs. Turn in home made crap...parts junk guns...broken air guns and any other junk laying around in the closet or garage...I read a statistic somewhere that said gun buy-back programs expect to take in about 10 to 15% of worthless junk. We need to make that 50% or more and make these idiot attempts at public safety non-viable and maybe make a few bucks at the same time...

If we did that all over the nation, gun buy back schemes would disappear.

I know about the dog, it was a sad, and cruel thing for them to do, and we had similar test done on Monkeys as well.
I don't think any Government has heart in it, and will do bad things like poison their own.

The 9mm is a good round, but without proper training, and lots of range time I would rather something more substantial.
I do have 32 round mags so Ill hit the spot most likely, but would hate to waste ammo these days.
Also I like the thought of a slow lumbering round that a person keeps like with ball ammo in 45, no plus p needed.
Still training is needed, and range time, people don't do that much anymore it seems.
I guess a shotgun would be best, why not open one up, and take a crowd of rude racist brats out if they threaten you.

Since the FBI days the round has been toned down, it's hard to find the original load they used.
Over penetration, and danger to others was the part the FBI disliked the most they said on the news back then.

I remember shooting one back in the 80s, I think it was a Smith, and the thumb, and webbing takes a hard hit, I didn't like it.
There is better guns though in 10mm, the mega star I hear is better, and the newer Tanfolios.

I did a mag mod to a few for him so he could get two extra rounds in his.

The only people trying to get rid of the .40 are law enforcement dimwits and why is that?...Because new recruits can't shoot it to spec just as they cannot shoot the .45ACP or the .357 sig. Most cops, especially the younger ones coming up, can barely handle the 9mm. Give them anything with more recoil and muzzle blast and they shit themselves....They lose their composure and concentration. I've seen it first hand.

And before you say the .40 is weak just remember that the same bullet technology and construction that keeps the .380 auto, the 9mm, and the. 38 spl as viable combat rounds does the sane for the .40 S&W. The problem with the .40 is it's original standard loading was for 180gr bullet and the bullet was too heavy for the case capacity. Load it with 165gr bullets and you have a completely different animal that blows the niggra 9 into the dustbin of ancient history.. Plus every moron out there expected performance like a full on obnoxious 10mm beast. The bar was set way too ridiculously high from the very beginning. Most people can't even handle a 10mm and shoot it effectively but they somehow magically wanted the .40 with half the case capacity to do the same job...

The 10mm I agree, but there is guns now that is more manageable, and the ammo is less than it was made to be, unfortunately. I think it would be great in a rifle myself.
The 40 I know a lot of people who are getting rid of them, and looking for 357 sig slides to change them out.
Personally I like a lot of better rounds more, and yeah that's personal.
as for 9mm, I love the round, but would rather rely on something better with a better take down since I don't practice like I used to do.

Even a .22 will kill a person if used right, .40 will also I know, but give me something that will take a person out just getting close, and at a reasonable price.
