Same with Christmas parties. I have bottles of wine around my house that will sit for 2 years before I will find an occasion for them, and I will have maybe one beer if I eat at the local pub with my boys. I just don't like the idea of getting drunk, it's just not cool. And my daughter keeps me honest with it. She hates booze even though nobody around her drinks irresponsibly.
You are lucky that you are able to do that... Not everyone can.
Everyone can do it;..even you....

You have a self defeating proclivity for selling yourself short and I strongly suspect it's for the negative attention that it garners....

I have re-used old electrical parts in-order to make the work cheaper for the client..

But I have never cut corners on the safety issues while doing electrical work.. They are all installed according to standards so that I can have a peace of mind.

Recently a cabin burned down in lapland because the floor heating was not installed according to standards... 3 kids died in their sleep.

That is what happens when you hire cheap estonian "electricians" instead of finns.

So while the rest of the world is doing stuff like rioting, Mel may have other matters on his mind. :sos:

All good here! Enjoyed the brief thunderstorm last night, but it wasn't as bad as they predicted it may be. The rivers are running high, but that really only affects those living adjacent to them. A few in the area are on evacuation alert, but I'm far enough away from the river that flooding would never affect me.

Good to here Mel, keep safe, and keep dry.
We had a lot of rain this year so far, flooded roads, and river was up a lot, now it will likely dry up, and we will wish for rain.

Here in Mayberry it's business as usual... No problems! Rivers have peaked! No Negroes acting up. No Antifa acting up. No lefties acting up. No destruction. Just a bunch of decent white people living their lives!

Even though she still sleazes around the forums occasionally, she won't actually have a proper conversation with anyone on the boards, so I'm unable to install pontoons on her scooter unfortunately. I do know that she still communicates with a couple of posters off the boards though, but I ain't one of them!

I did find out who she is though, and where she really lives... by utilizing my internet Kung Fu!

Fucking stalker... Please do not give her a reason to slap a restraining order on your alcoholic ass.

Well, as for the uninstalled pontoons,....I just hope you will not feel too much guilt when the poor gimp drowns.... Shame on you...:kez:

LOL,Mel the stalker, watch out, or she might pivot that wheel chair around on you, and run over you laughing all the way.

Oh, and Mel, I have had a few blacks in my neighborhood over the years, some in grade school even which where great people, and never acted up. \
I was pleased to call them friends.
Also a black family went to the same church as us, the family was great, and we even sit at the dinner table a few times with them.
My dad called Ira his brother even they got along so well.

Now for me, I have black family since my great Nephews family is black, I consider them that.
My nephews grandfather is a great guy, and his wife even though she gets upset with me being a Republican sometimes we get along otherwise.
She can't keep her mouth shut about some political stuff you see, and I hit her with a fact she gets the hell out of Dodge. :spit:

To be truthful, I spend very little time at my forum. Like none at all in fact. Think "plausible deniability"...

I peeked in a few times, and tried to post in the registered area, but couldn't so not there myself.
To bad it's not how it used to be for forums, the place might have been something, same with this one.
I'm happy though here, good bunch of people have been here, and to be truthful, I never had many friends so I'm happy with just a few good ones. :)

I don't think there's really much that we could do to bring back what the forums we knew once were... Times change it seems! There are places like 4chan though, where one can still post anonymously on a wide variety of subjects, and it's fairly busy too! Probably the closest existing thing as to how old DV once was!

Forums have been dying for the past decade. Most general forums are now reduced to a minimum number of like minded members and they have become nothing but clannish back slapping festivals. Consequently real debate no longer exists in that kind of environment, not that anyone has anything worthwhile to say anyway. In the odd chance that someone new joins, it's circle the wagons time....and the new member is generally treated like the turd in the punch bowl.

This is the only general forum I bother with anymore. The few peeps left that post here are good people..Even you Mel....

I do belong to a couple of subject specific forums for things I have interest in. But there is no clowning around on those. There is no need or room for it. Moderation is strict and you don't stray too far from the subject matter. They are great information sharing sources but that's about it.

Facebook killed most forums, and the likes.
Funny that I wont join Facebook because I don't want to deal with family, and so called past friends.
Here is good, and I appreciate the company even if sparse.

I try to welcome anyone as long as they are not a turd, I don't mind if they are a little though.
Thing is I have had the gates close a long time, and not sure if anyone has tried besides spammers to join.

I completely agree, and there's not much that can be done about it! And you're OK too Renee, as long as you don't get too worked up! :toung:

What's left of the other forums is no different than FaceBook... The few remaining members are the way they are because they view the open forum more like a closed FaceBook group, which is what they wanted all along. Many are actually E-Friends behind the scenes, and only use the forum as sort of a landing base, as opposed to a platform where differing views and opinions are discussed openly and actually encouraged.

I too post at a couple subject specific forums, but as you know and as the name implies, they're very subject specific. 4chan I like though, because it's anonymous, does have subject specific areas with very knowledgeable posters believe it or not, while permitting a bit of shitposting and humor also! But it's completely anonymous, so you won't really make any connections with posters, if that's your thing.

I had a FaceBook account for a while, but disabled it... As you mention, I kinda got tired also reading posts from family and 'friends.' Same repetitive crap got repetitive, but that wasn't the main problem: These days especially, I don't want anything I post online associated with my real name! Scum like Antifa are just looking to dox people... Hell, some dumb bitch was hassling me when I simply stated the opinion that our speed limits are too low in certain areas! :kez:

I've had one bad experience with my online life that I am still wrestling with from time to time. It was my own fault as I let myself be talked into sharing much more of myself than I ever should have...AND NO Mel, it was NOT interracial porn... I was much younger then and it started out innocent enough but it went bad very rapidly. At the time I was in a place in my life where I wasn't very confident, I was easily manipulated and would do self destructive shit on impulse..Funny thing is, in a weird way, I'm kinda of proud of it but at the same time I put into the catagory of "what the fuck were you thinking?"..
:kez: ...But it's water under the bridge now and I reconcile it by just chalking it up to life experience.

I had an FB account but I got rid of it over 3 years ago. I used to have an Instagram account as well but that has been neglected for sometime now as well. Both of those accounts were private. I kept it so that only a select few could read them.

I'm actually a loner by nature...Over the years I've become very protective of my privacy, online and off. In real life I have many acquaintances but I keep few friends. Even when RW and that Aussie creep were promoting their Skype meetings, I never attended. The closest I came to a friendship online was with RW. We used to communicate in PM through TBC and when she had her own forum. It wasn't a lot but it was enough that I got comfortable with exchanging a limited amount of personal info. It was a decent experience that moved me out of my usual comfort zone but I don't think I will ever do it again for anyone else. I have my family, and a couple of old friends and right now, that's enough for me.
