Your comment reminds me of soldiers of wars gone by calling for mamma.
I read about roman, and Greek soldiers even calling for mamma in the far past.

Maybe we should call "Ghost Busters" for what it's worth... :kez:

I don't recall Jesus saying "call on me"....as in for help, guidance, salvation, or help picking lottery numbers or other contrived bullshit...

He did say "believe in me", or so I am told...but what exactly does that mean? I wasn't there...he didn't speak directly to me or someone I trust......I do not intend to plan my life or my death on 2nd hand, or 3rd hand or as in this case,.....5000th hand information. I'm just going to wait and see and come what may,.......roll with it; just as I have with everything in life.

Most the Bible is simple, people choose to make it complicated.
I'm in no means an authority on it, but I do know one thing, you follow his law without any of your extras like people want, and you will be alright.
Repent, go to church faithfully with gladness in your heart, take the lords supper, spread the word, and try to live a good life by being an example to others. That's all he wanted.

The guy in the video has set himself up as a prophet of sorts, there will be no prophets after me Jesus said. No man can tell you the end of the world either in the case of bible stuff, he will come as a thief in the night.

Me, I don't follow any faith, just have studied a few. I really admire some stuff in Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism even, you can have the following part though if you don't believe in them religiously.

Sort of funny, thinking about my Grandparents... My Grandmother was Lutheran, and while not a 'bible thumper' by any means, she maintained her faith.

My Grandfather, on the other hand, was an Atheist that would have no problem admitting that to anyone who wanted to enter into discussion about religion.

How those two managed to stay married until death I sometimes question...

I think Luther tried to get it right, but failed to do so, maybe he thought the basics was more revolutionary than people could handle.

being a skeptic I am it's hard for me to believe, but just as hard to believe the theory of a big bang which still has flaws like where did the stuff that made the big bang happen come from.
It's the same argument as a God/god, something from nothing is still nothing. But we are here, so something had to start it all off right, could be an all powerful being, or beings, or maybe we are just not real at all, and think so. :woot:

What if the Universe has existed 'forever,' and will continue to exist 'forever?' Not in the exact state that it's in at this particular moment, since we know everything changes, but I don't think it's too far fetched to assume that the Universe as we know it has existed for infinity, and will continue to exist for infinity, in one form or another.

The main problem with the human mind is, is that it has a very difficult time calculating 'infinity'... Basically, we cannot compute this.

You have the same argument for God, he is infinite, and we can't fathom his eternal existence.
I don't think anything is forever except nothingness, even atoms decay.

While atoms may decay, I don't think it's possible for anything to just 'disappear'...

I mean, the mass of the entire Universe would always remain constant.

Atoms break down to smaller bits till there is nothing we can see, or define, sub atomic particles with no base for building.
So nothing is nothing as we really are nothing except to ourselves.

John 14:6 New King James Version (NKJV)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Acts 4:12 New King James Version (NKJV)
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

I believe somebody was asking about why it is only about Jesus. It is not about religion. In fact, and this may surprise some people, God really hates religion, (including what some call Christianity)
This is because it is about a relationship. People actually know God. They have met Him, talked to Him, some have actually seen Him. And this can apply to anyone. There are cases where atheists have demanded to God that if He is there, to prove His existence. I have met a man who lives in my city who was a muslim kurd living in Iraq when he encountered Jesus face to face. (He now has a church of his own where he preaches to a largely Arabic congregation.) Those who seek Him will find Him.

I'm open to possibilities but there has to be irrefutable evidence. I have to agree with Frosty on this one. Dreams can be so vivid that you would swear it was reality. Scientists do not even have a complete understanding of all brain functions, so this guy's hypothesis is rather shocking coming from a neurosurgeon.

Humans have created the notion of an afterlife for one obvious reason ... we're terrified of death and non-existence. Every major religion has a promise of an afterlife. If you took this "reward" away, there would be no incentive to to be religious.

We are good at trying to delude ourselves because the alternative is too horrible to accept ie. we'll never see our dead loved ones again, etc.

The brain is capable of some weird shit! At the ER, I was put under with Ketamine, and let me fucking tell you that shit is insane!

After coming to, talking to the nurse, she tells me they sometimes avoid using Ketamine with war vets, as they can be brought right back into battle! :o

I think we are still here only if we are remembered, otherwise we are just dead, and forgotten to become whatever the world, or nature can make of us.
Like the old saying, we are all star dust, that star died so we could be born. Sound familiar. :)

As for a soul, that's for us to shoulder till we find out for sure in the end.

I know someone who recently OD'd and while she was dead she saw bright light and a bright being made of light stretching out possibly from a different dimension. She thinks that it may have been female. She thinks that all of these other stories that people tell of people waiting on the other side are probably bullshiite.

Being a mamas boy myself I see nothing wrong with it, and your dying family should be one of your last thoughts.
I'm not sure if I would call for mama myself, been close to beign killed a few times in my life, and all I could come up with was an "Oh Well !"

Actually, ( I know this is responding to what was said a long time ago), I don't think people are afraid of non-existence. In fact, I think most people who commit suicide are looking for the relief of oblivion. To me, oblivion sounds really, really good, and if God had confirmed it to us that that would be our outcome, I think most people would rather just end it rather than endure the pain and suffering of existing in this world. The thing that stops most of us is the knowledge that there could be God, and that if He is real, then we are faced with the possibility that if we have not listened to Him and followed His instructions, we could land ourselves in an unbearable situation that we cannot escape from...ever. We need to really think about where we go afterwards. We should also be aware, that the idea of hallucinations, although this may sound like a logical explaination, could equally prove to be wrong. To me, it is far better to be cautious about this because frankly, I don't lose any quality of life by believing what I believe, and I have peace in knowing that whatever the reality of death is, I am ready for it. And I can eat steak, just like everyone else.
