Here’s another Canadian cryptozoological monster, the Wendigo.

If I was to be afraid of any squid in those waters it would be the Humboldt Squid.
They are large, thick, and aggressive towards anything they might be able to eat.

There are records of giant squids attacking small boats over the centuries too.

Yeah, and very old drawings.
The Humboldt Squid is big, but if they where the size of say the giant squids the sea wouldn't be safe for much of anything.
They attack small boats all the time down there, and in packs, some schools of them are in the thousands.
Some whales, sharks, and swordfish eat them, people do also.

This mouse sized relative of the elephant must have got it’s name from its trunk like nose. It had been thought to extinct and hadn’t been seen for fifty years. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-enviro ... HWPrlHYTII

Can't exactly call it a crypto critter if it is a known species. That being said, I wonder how many other known species of animals we have declared as extinct are simply too few in number to be noticed.

I remember those from when I was a kid, I didn't know they vanished, or was endangered.

Funny you should say that. Every now and again, something appears that is a known species but because very few people know about them they are deemed rare, extinct or at least endangered.
Here's an example of one such creature that biologists know about, but probably nobody else until now. I know I haven't seen one of these before.

I've seen those fish before on documentaries when I was younger :)
They should have let it go

The article indicates that it died in the net before it was brought aboard.

Likely only check the nets daily, or every other day.
I just scanned the article by the way, I miss things.

Awesome, and pretty creatures, but they may be mixed with dogs like those huskies in the video.
They where bigger as in thicker looking than the usual wolf so I expect I'm right, but I have seen wolves about that tall.
My sister actually had one for a while, a huge female.
