Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
It has a lot to do with temps, it's been a few years now, but our solar system was two degrees warmer.
That wasn't from humans in space, or cow farts.
Also temps in space isn't uniform, and we travel through a lot of of it.
Just think how cold a part of space is with chemicals such as Ammonia are, and more, or less of some elements that can hold heat, or bring it down.
Speculation here, but how about a brown dwarf star crossing an area of space we go through, they are not hot like a regular star, but will warm an area for a while.

I wonder if my house can withstand a tornado.
Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
If you go out helping people...
Only help people who voted republican.
The Democrats are mocking the victims of the Tornado disaster.

Most houses wont survive intact, but some made of concrete will minus maybe some windows, or part of the roof.
There has been a lot of study on house design, Berm houses for instance seems to be the best, the Geo houses come in good also but they are pretty strange looking.
So maybe be a Hobbit

Mayfield is a bit far for me to travel, but if I could I would go help.
I know how Democrats are, and all, but unless they are just straight up lefttards I would still help them.
Anyone mocking those people I would hope people could look over their stupidity, and the more normal lefty people would denounce those bums.

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
Happy day I hope for you all, someone needs one
Feeling a bit rough here, and my brains are just oatmeal lately, can't remember anything.
I even forgot to make dinner last night still fat though.
So, gotta get a few groceries today, anyone know of any great tasting snacks ?
I have nothing in the house right now other than Ice cream that's considered a snack.
I guess that's good in a way, but everyone needs an occasional snack.

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
Hello again peoples good day to you.
Well I go to the doctor tomorrow, Ill find out if I have pneumonia, or something else.
I'm not feeling much worse than I usually do, but the noise in my chest at night keep me up, and wheezing.
My brain is always in a fog also, I'm forgetting so much lately, maybe not related, but stress isn't helping it.
So, anything good going on, mid week I guess work is all for some.
I need something good, not sure what though.
It is warmer out today here, maybe Ill go out for some not so fresh air for a bit.

Really sad stuff, those people will have a hard time for a long time.
I really feel for them, and wish I could do something that might help.

Build a concrete bunker under your house.
Basement/bunker.
These tornados seem to be a yearly thing.
Build a stone-house.
I hope these guys were insured for tornadoes.

I stay in the basement, might be a Mushroom.
Yeah concrete is the way to go, and roof ties help a little.
They build some houses with a concrete safe space in them in Tornado ally, it's better than nothing.
I cellar, or really something reinforced underground is the way to go as long as you have a little stuff stocked in them for a few days.

Or worse, there might be a fire on the ground-level.
The bunker needs to have its own air-ventilation system.
Reinforced fireproof door.
You have to observe the weather and perhaps sleep in the bunker while there is a possibility of a tornado.
Take every warning sign and alert very seriously.

Tornado bunkers don't need to be very complex! A hole in the ground is usually good enough! Tornadoes blow through surprisingly fast, so you won't be sitting down there for very long...Odinson wrote: ↑December 17th, 2021, 1:28 am The access way might get blocked by debris.

You don't need a nuclear fallout shelter for 30 seconds of brutal winds!

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
It is nice to have all that is you can afford it though.
People jump in ditches a lot, or culverts also.
I drove home one day through a tornado, and saw people under a bi-dock on a bridge, not the best place since they can be sucked out.
you need to be below ground level, tornadoes will jump them, and hills even.

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
Well it's the Weekend almost, I hope all is well.
Been a little busy this morning with calls, and I put a Hover cart together for my niece's Christmas gift.
I have to find a way to make a bow for it I guess, can't wrap it.
I would have been ecstatic as a kid to get something like that, wouldn't you
So, anything good going on today, good food, or a movie ?
Making some pork fahetas here I guess, cut up some nice tenderloin for it.
Got some other things I need to wrap also for Christmas.
I know I'm missing a few people this year, I hope they understand, my mind is mush, and I'm quite lost in the fog.

One of the Kentuckian families had an underground fiber-glass shelter... And they survived while their house was obliterated.Mel Gibson wrote: ↑December 17th, 2021, 3:18 amTornado bunkers don't need to be very complex! A hole in the ground is usually good enough! They were also keeping an eye on how the situation develops.
The shelters cost less than 10k dollars and I´m guessing that they cost even less than that when you install them yourself.

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
A bit small for my taste, I would get a cistern first, and convert it, the big round tanks can hold a lot, and with a platform you can store stuff under the platform.
Less likely crushed also.

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
This would probably be the easiest solution, since they're already fitted with a manhole, and come in various sizes. Hardest part would be digging the hole, but I'd just rent a small excavator to do that myself. Line the bottom with gravel, have delivery truck drop cistern in hole with crane, back fill with excavator, and you could probably have a functioning tornado bunker for $5,000. Maybe even less if you could find a decent used one...Blue Frost wrote: ↑December 17th, 2021, 5:13 pm A bit small for my taste, I would get a cistern first, and convert it, the big round tanks can hold a lot, and with a platform you can store stuff under the platform.

I considered it in the past, you need venting for them, and they can be quite comfortable I here.
You can have a cool hideout in one if you landscape right.
I'm surprised more people don't have them growing pot in them.

Re: Hello :-) ... Hows Life ?
Years ago I had an acquaintance (he was an old truck driver and equipment operator) who sort of mentored me a bit when I first got into the industry with zero experience... And that was exactly his retirement plan (since he was retirement age): He was going to move rural, bury a couple of 40' sea cans under the ground, and grow pot in them.Blue Frost wrote: ↑December 18th, 2021, 12:11 am I considered it in the past, you need venting for them, and they can be quite comfortable I here.

I never did keep in touch with him, so don't know if his retirement 'hobby' ever came to fruition... He was a man of action though, so I have no doubt he would've at least attempted it!
