I know the face, but never watched all that movie because I hate Tom Hanks.

Mike Tyson ‘died’ from toad venom, ‘death is beautiful’
Reinhold Matay / USA TODAY Sports
Michael Rosenthal
November 17, 2021 3:39 pm ET

Mike Tyson has experienced death, he told The New York Post. And it’s ‘beautiful.’

The former heavyweight champ says he passed to the other side after smoking toxins from the Sonoran Desert toad, which produces about a 20-minute psychoactive experience or drug trip. “The toad” evidently is gaining in popularity.

Tyson said he tried it for the first time four years ago, when he was abusing alcohol and drugs and was unhappy.

“I died during my first trip,” Tyson told the newspaper. “In my trips I’ve seen that death is beautiful. Life and death both have to be beautiful, but death has a bad rep. The toad has taught me that I’m not going to be here forever. There’s an expiration date.”

A friend suggested he try the toad. He has now done it 53 times, which he says helped him lose weight and improved his personal relationships. He also has returned to boxing in his mid-50s.

He became so enamored with the experience that he now has a nursery filled with the creatures at his ranch in Desert Hot Springs, California.

“I did it as a dare,” Tyson said. “I was doing heavy drugs like cocaine, so why not? It’s another dimension. Before I did the toad, I was a wreck. The toughest opponent I ever faced was myself. I had low self-esteem.

“People with big egos often have low self-esteem. We use our ego to subsidize that. The toad strips the ego.”

He went on: “People see the difference [in me]. It speaks for itself. If you knew me in 1989 you knew a different person. My mind isn’t sophisticated enough to fathom what happened, but life has improved. The toad’s whole purpose is to reach your highest potential. I look at the world differently. We’re all the same. Everything is love.”

Tyson spoke to The Post at Wonderland, a psychedelics conference in Miami. He has been in the cannabis business for years.

The great Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot has just passed at 84 years old. He was going to go on tour this year. I remember listening to his music when I was a boy. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/ ... 023-05-02/

This guy really was a legend. I don't know if if that many Americans knew it was him who came up with a lot of those folk classics.
He had a who's who of music greats such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Glen campbell, Frank Sinatra, and so many more doing covers of his songs.
Meanwhile, for us older Canadians, his music was a soundtrack running in the background of our childhoods.

I knew all that :) and enjoyed several of his albums growing up.
It would be really nice if we could back people up as we do computers wouldn't it.

He has been in a lot of movies and series in supporting roles.

But he had the lead role "Titus Pullo" in Rome..

I love that show and I love the character... Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo are one of the best duos in cinema.

Speaking of pervs...
I had one of his albums when I was a kid.
We all knew many of his songs, and when the high school in my town invited him to do a concert in our newly built theatre, he also painted a mural in the theatre entrance. Wonder if it is still there.

And to think this guy was a kids entertainer :kez:

Anyone mention Jerry Springer ?
I hated his show, and what he, and Moron Povitch did to TV.

The televangelist Pat Robertson just past at age 93. At least he gets to miss the worlds end times tribulations. I learned from his show about Ted Kennedy’s illegal trip to Russia to try and get them to do stuff to swing the re-election of Ronald Reagan. This is real collusion however as he stated on his show no network would cover it. How long has the western media been so left leaning ? Rest In Peace Pat Robertson. https://www.christianheadlines.com/cont ... =554208188

I knew about Kennedy, I forgot how I learned of it though.
Also the Clintons went to the USSR illegally during the cold war because they admired the communist so much, and made deals.
The Clintons where just out of collage I believe, or maybe still in, they deserved a little prison time for that, but Kennedy did it for political gain which was treason being with an enemy.
