These beautiful and bizarre looking extinct in the wild birds are being released into the wild. It’s a great thing that some were in captivity before their extinction in the wild. I would guess that the invasive species in New Zealand are to blame. Why would they have thought that bringing in weasel family critters in their wilds would be beneficial ?were rats and mice playing a part. They follow the guy around, I hope that other people don't take advantage of that if set free.

I would imagine that they taste similar to chicken or Turkey. They’re certainly colourful. I really partial to anything blue and it’s got a beautiful blue plus purple and red. It’s great that they are putting such an effort into preserving this bird.

The bad is there is cats, and foxes that will eat the eggs, and birds still out there.

Australia has a big problem with foxes, feral cats and other introduced deliberately or not species however I’m sure that the island that they chose to release these birds is free of them.

I read they have a cat issue also, bad thing is they are not easy to be rid of.
Madagascar has issues with them also, they have that fat parrot that runs around that is hard hit by them.

Cats hide so good. I saw a cougar once at the side of the highway at night in the distance onoover thirty years ago and I’ve often wondered how many cougars have seen me in the forest?

Bears do also, and big as they are that's something.

I used to sit in the woods a lot reading my books, people would walk pretty close to me, and never notice.
I could smell a lot of them coming, and hear them even more.
It's amazing how loud it gets in the woods, you here everything if you pay attention.
A deer walked right by me once, looked over at me, and just walked off away from me.
