The company was already in trouble, it was so stupid to push for more.
Unions can have a good place, but they are greedy, and not really for the worker.
I hope this opens a lot of peoples eyes to what they do because the government is being bankrupted the same way .

No more Twinkies. People are now buying up as many as they can and some are trying to market them on E-bay. I guess Canadians and Americans will just have to supersize themselves with the good old golden arches, and Big gulps.

You know I haven't enjoyed a good snack from that company in a long time anyhow, they ruined the stuff with all the fake food ingredients.

As for unions...The global economy that has developed over the last couple of decades had shown big business that if they were to survive and remain competitive,
they would have to do things differently, and so in most cases, they adapted. Not so the unions who are now struggling to remain relevant. The only real exception to this, at least in Canada, are the public sector unions who browbeat politicians desperate for votes into caving in to their demands. Even then though, they have been settling for less and less with the knowledge that there really is just less.

The US has the same, and they contribute more to politicians than anyone else now in Washington.
They pretty much have hands in the US tax payers pockets .
Like Grease, it's not sustainable.

IRVING, Texas - Hostess Brands in the U.S. said it is going out of business, closing plants that make Twinkies and Wonder Bread and laying off all of its 18,500 workers.

The Irving, Texas, company said a nationwide worker strike crippled its ability to make and deliver its products at several locations.

Hostess had warned employees that it would file a motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court to unwind its business and sell assets if plant operations didn't return to normal levels by Thursday evening.

The privately held company filed for Chapter 11 protection in January, its second trip through bankruptcy court in less than a decade.

Montreal, Que.-based Saputo has the rights to the Hostess brand in Canada, and according to The Globe and Mail, has said Canadian operations will not be affected.
