Sidney Poitier dead at 94... He was the first black man to win an academy award and paved the way for other black actors thru the 60s and 70s up until today. Great actor and a good all round human being.

"Poitier was knighted by Britain's Queen Elizabeth II in 1974 and served as the Bahamian ambassador to Japan and to UNESCO, the U.N. cultural agency. He also sat on Walt Disney Co's board of directors from 1994 to 2003.

In 2009, Poitier was awarded the highest U.S. civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, by President Barack Obama."

Couldn't stand the man, just another ungrateful hate Whitey kind of guy.
Also Obama giving out medals is like Obama giving medals to himself :kez:

I know the name, but not the face.
Still sorry to her family, I hope they are doing well with it.

I'm really surprised he lived that long, a few concerts I saw clips of looked like he was going to drop dead 40 years ago.

He was always this big sweaty guy but his talent was undeniable. He would put everything he had and more into his show night after night and you could tell that it had to take its toll on him physically.

In more recent years he has had some health issues.... He collapsed a couple times on stage and he suffered from severe debilitating back pain.

He will be greatly missed by his fans.

Yeah he gave it at the shows, and really wore himself out in them, I really don't know how he did it.
Even a fit triathlon guy would have issues doing all that in a performance.
It's amazing really even if you don't care for his music.

Sorry the family had the loss, but I was never a fan of his, but very few comedians was funny to me anyhow.
I just found him to be annoying like Andy Coffman.

He has looked rough for years now, I feel for his family.
I enjoyed the parts he played most the time, made a great bad guy.
He did some pretty bad movies also, but that wasn't because of him.

Four of those six children are relatives of mine, I don't know them.
One of my aunts house flooded, and another relative is homeless now since their home washed away. :( sad news for me today.
Also I have a sick relative that has covid now, I can't help her, but offered to go take her stuff, and fix food for her.
