It was quite unique that he could get so close to because of the water between the fire and him. What if the tornado changed direction and headed his way. It was fire season so it’s hot to start with. Maybe he could douse himself with the water to cool down.

It was a weak tornado so the car would have protected him, the fire he could drive away.
I drove through a tornado on the freeway coming home from work one day, it was much stronger than that.

I have never seen a tornado so I don't have any experience. I did have a dust devil blow through a booth I was working at over twenty years ago.

Well that firestorm wasn't much more than a strong dust devil, I doubt it was even close to a category one tornado.

Is this real ?

Have You Ever Seen Square Clouds?

Clouds come in all shapes, sizes, and types but have you ever seen square clouds?

On November 24, 2018 Jo wood captured such a strange square cloud over Cleethorpes in England and while it is said that these clouds are so-called rhombus-shaped clouds we may wonder whether these clouds are artificially created by a weather control program.

Those photos are far too square to be naturally occurring. Of course they could be photoshopped.

What an amazing sight. Can you imagine looking up at the sky and seeing a sky like this ?

PHOTOS of Stunning Light Pillars Emerging in Russian Skies

The colourful light pillars in the sky over Russia's Nizhny Tagil in Sverdlovsk Oblast appeared due to ice crystallisation, and the natural phenomenon could occur as a result of a sudden drop in temperature, or moisture getting into the atmosphere, an engineer at the Kourovka Astronomical Observatory explained.

"During sudden temperature changes, the moisture in the atmosphere starts to freeze, and ice crystals start to go down, just like leaves in autumn, taking a horizontal position. Their striking feature is that they begin to reflect light that beams from lanterns, and various sources of bright light", the engineer at the Kourovka Astronomical Observatory, Vladilen Sanakoev, told Sputnik on Monday.

(CNN)"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds," the saying goes.
But whoever said that didn't face weather of the kind predicted for Wednesday. So postal workers won't be out delivering anything in six entire states, and parts of four others.
The US Postal Service said Tuesday night on Facebook that because of the predicted deteriorating weather conditions in the Midwest, delivery will be suspended in some areas.
The list of regions and states affected: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and parts of Kansas, Missouri, Montana and Nebraska.

Minnesota could see 70 degree below wind chill
Even for the hardiest, cold-tested Americans, this week's deep freeze is brutal, with dozens of temperature and wind chill records expected to occur from the Dakotas to Long Island, leading to warnings for people to stay inside.
In Minnesota, blustery weather could mean wind chills that could approach 70 below.
"These are VERY DANGEROUS conditions and can lead to frostbite on exposed skin in as little as five minutes where wind chill values are below -50," the National Weather Service office near Minneapolis and St. Paul tweeted. "Best thing you can do is limit your time outside."
A mammoth blast of frigid air sweeping through the Midwest is headed toward the East, on track to shatter dozens of records along the way. And it can be deadly, with the weather blamed for three deaths this week.

"The coldest air in a generation is sinking south, with below-zero temperatures already in the Upper Midwest," CNN meteorologist Dave Hennen said Tuesday. "And the worst yet to come."
The bitter weather has also snarled travel in even the hardiest cities. More than 2,700 flights involving US airports are canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday, including more than 1,550 in and out of Chicago airports, according to FlightAware.com.
Millions of Americans grappling with the cold would be better off warming up in parts of Antarctica.
Chicago could reach a record low temperature of 27 below zero by Thursday morning. The city's daytime high on Wednesday might only reach 15 below zero.
'If there's global warming, why is it so cold?' Here's why
'If there's global warming, why is it so cold?' Here's why
Compare that to the relative warmth of Priestley Glacier, Antarctica, which will have a Wednesday high temperature of 6 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of 7 below zero.
While Hennen said Chicago will be "the epicenter of the extreme cold," its misery will have plenty of company.
Temperatures will plunge to 20-40 degrees below zero between Tuesday and Thursday in the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes, Hennen said.
Roughly 212 million, or 72% of the continental US population, will see temperatures drop below freezing over the next few days. And more than 83 million Americans -- about 25% of the US population -- will suffer subzero temperatures sometime between Wednesday and Monday.
So cold the deicer froze
Grand Forks County Sheriff Andy Schneider said many businesses in his North Dakota community were closed but there were a few grocery stores and gas stations staying open.
But if people need to go get bread and milk, he advised putting on long johns and other layers. If you don't, "it's not very safe," he said.
What to know about frostbite
What to know about frostbite
Schneider said many of the calls his department was answering were for motorists stuck in ditches. But people were unable to get going for other reasons.
"Bigger vehicles like UPS trucks and garbage trucks or semis are stalling out," he said. "Their fuel is gelling up and their engines can't run."
He said there were also planes at the airport that couldn't take off because workers would spray deicer on them and the liquid would freeze, too.
The wind chill at Grand Forks International Airport was 61 degrees below zero, the National Weather Service said. That's from an actual temperature of 25 below and a wind gust of 44 mph.
Beware of life-threatening wind chills
The only numbers more shocking than the temperatures are the wind chills.
Yes, wind chill is a real threat. It can and will harm you.
Yes, wind chill is a real threat. It can and will harm you.
Wind chills will plummet to 30-70 degrees below zero this week in parts of the northern Plains and Great Lakes region, Hennen said.
In northern Minnesota, wind chills were forecast to drop to 65-70 degrees below zero, which would rival the coldest wind chill ever recorded in the state (71 below) in 1982.
In its 8 p.m. update, the National Weather Service said the municipal airport in Benson, Minnesota, recorded a wind chill of 62 below.
Illinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker declared a state of emergency, saying even a brief time outside with exposed skin can be life-threatening.
"There is a real risk of hypothermia and frostbite," Pritzker said Tuesday. "Even five minutes of exposure can have very severe health consequences."
Chicago might stay below zero from Tuesday all the way until midday Friday, Hennen said.

At least 3 deaths are linked to weather

Authorities are urging people to bundle up, stay inside and check up on the elderly and vulnerable.
But already, at least three deaths have been attributed to the extreme cold.
The latest storm-related fatality was a 55-year-old man who was found dead Tuesday in the detached garage of his Milwaukee home. The man apparently collapsed after shoveling snow, according to the medical examiner's office.
On Sunday, a man in Rochester, Minnesota, was found dead outside the home where he was staying with a relative.
Ali Alfred Gombo, 22, didn't have keys to the home and was unable to enter after being dropped off outside early Sunday morning, CNN affiliate KIMT reported. The single-digit temperatures that dipped below zero may have played a role in his death, Rochester police said.
And in Illinois, a man was killed Monday "after a roadway crash involving a village plow truck and a pedestrian," Libertyville police said.
The plow truck driver has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of an investigation, police said.
What about the Super Bowl?
In Atlanta, where the New England Patriots are set to face the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl this weekend, a possibility of snow prompted many places to close on Tuesday.

But the city avoided any measurable snow, as a line of light rain moved through during the morning.
Temperatures are expected to rebound to near 60 degrees before Sunday evening's kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

CNN's Judson Jones, Samira Said, Kara Devlin, Dave Alsup, Emanuella Grinberg and Marlena Baldacci contributed to this report.

one place had a 75F below windchill, that's really dangerous, and painful to even breath in it.
I went out this morning, and I'm not sure the temp, but it was frosty, I didn't stay out long, and I can usually handle the cold.

This storm is gigantic. It stretches from Texas to Canada. Is this going to be the new normal ? Each year here in BC the forest fire records are being broken. I do suspect that Justin Trudeaus jihadis may be partly responsible though. i hope this year won't be so bad. The three videos may interest you.

'Cyclone of historic proportions' hits U.S., sets barometric pressure records, strands over 1 100 drivers and leaves nearly 200 000 without power

Powerful winter storm rapidly intensified over the central United States on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, producing blizzard conditions and widespread hurricane-force wind gusts. Over 1 100 drivers were stranded, at least one person has been killed and nearly 200 000 left without power.

The storm across the central Plains will continue to bring blizzard conditions to parts of the northern Plains and Rockies through Thursday, where travel remains difficult, the National Weather Service warns. Heavy rain, snowmelt, and ice jams on rivers have produced widespread flooding across the Upper Midwest. Meanwhile, severe storms with damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes are possible from the Great Lakes to the South.

NWS Weather Prediction Center described the storm as a 'cyclone of historic proportions.'

Over the past 24 hours, NWS offices logged about 350 wind gusts of 80+ km/h (50+ mph), with a further 92 reports of damage. The most significant gusts (112+ km/h / 70+ mph) were recorded in northeastern New Mexico, Texas Panhandle and eastern Colorado.

A computerized analysis, from the Real-Time Mesoscale Analysis (RTMA), shows the extent of 50+ MPH wind gusts today as well. The most continuous region is highlighted, but strong gusts likely occurred on ridge tops in other portions of the West as well. pic.twitter.com/PbnTv2DGgC

— NWS WPC (@NWSWPC) March 14, 2019
The highest recorded wind gusts through 21:00 CDT, March 13 belongs to San Augustin Pass, NM with 167 km/h (104 mph), followed by Pine Springs, TX with a gust of 166 km/h (103 mph).

A new preliminary record low pressure was set at Pueblo, Colorado. At 07:00 MDT (13:00 UTC), Pueblo reported a sea level pressure of 975.5 hPa. Their previous record low pressure was 976.6 hPa, with records dating back to 1893.

Pueblo's pressure continued falling and finally hit 974.2 hPa before 09:00 MDT (15:00 UTC).

Other preliminary record low pressures have been set by this strong cyclone at: Clayton, NM at 11:00 MDT at 973.4 hPa exceeding 983.1 hPa (length of record 1948) and Dodge City, KS at 976.1 hPa exceeding 977.0 hPa (length of record 1893).

There were almost 2 000 flight cancelations and 2 700 flights delayed due to powerful winds and heavy snow that hit northern Colorado, including Denver, western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming, central South Dakota and southeastern North Dakota.

Widespread structural damage was reported, massive power outages (nearly 200 000 customers) and difficult driving conditions, including complete whiteouts in parts of the region.

"Snowfall totals so far are as high as 40 cm (16 inches) in the mountains of Colorado, with 18 cm (7.1 inches) reported in Denver and about 10 cm (4 inches) in the Boulder area. Many schools, including those in the Denver area, have already been canceled for Thursday," AccuWeather Meteorologist Faith Eherts said.

More than 800 km (500 miles) of I-80 were closed or partially closed from Rock Springs, Wyoming to Kearney, Nebraska. I-25 was also closed for more than 480 km (300 miles) from Buffalo, Wyoming to the Colorado border. I-70 in Colorado was closed in both directions from Aurora to Goodland, Kansas. A part of I-70 west of Denver was also closed in both directions as well as I-76 from the northeast of Denver to the Wyoming state line. I-90 in South Dakota was closed from Wall to Chamberlain. All state highways and interstates were closed in Nebraska Panhandle and several state highways in western Kansas.

The El Paso, CO County Commission Chairman declared and emergency Wednesday afternoon to allow the county to ask for state and national help to rescue 1 100 stranded motorists.

Meanwhile, Colorado Governor Jared Police declared a state of emergency, and the National Guard was activated to assist with search, rescue and life safety operations.

A Colorado State Patrol corporal was hit and killed while he was outside his vehicle helping with a car that slid off I-86 inWeldc County. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A massive pileup with dozens of vehicles took place on southbound lanes of I-25 south of Denver.

NWS compared the storm with the famously powerful March 13, 1993 winter cyclone dubbed The Storm of the Century. Yesterday's storm was of very similar intensity, producing incredible winds and blizzard conditions, the service said.

Forecast
The intense storm across the midsection of the nation that has been responsible for heavy snows, blizzard conditions and widespread wind gusts over hurricane force will be pressing northeastward through the Upper Mississippi Valley into the Upper Great Lakes on Thursday, March 14, NWS forecaster Oravec noted.

While the storm has reached its lowest pressure and will gradually weaken over the next few days, strong winds will continue on the west side of the storm across portions of the Central and Northern Plains.

Blizzard conditions are expected to continue into the first half of Thursday over northeast Colorado and for most of the day from eastern Wyoming, across most of Nebraska, South Dakota, eastern North Dakota into northwest Minnesota.

Travel will remain difficult and life-threatening across these areas, with improving conditions Thursday night into Friday as the storm pushes farther off to the northeast.

As the strong storm pushes northeastward today into the Upper Mississippi Valley, winds will be lessening across the Central to Southern Plains that experienced widespread wind gust over hurricane force during the past 24 hours.

High wind warnings remain in effect into Thursday morning for southeast Colorado and western Kansas, but overall a much smaller area of strong wind gusts expected Thursday as the storm moves away from this region.

The associated cold front with this strong storm will continue to be a focus for thunderstorm activity from the Lower Mississippi Valley into the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys.

Heavy rains, isolated flooding and severe weather are possible with these thunderstorms across these regions. A taste of spring temperatures likely ahead of the above mentioned cold front on Thursday for all areas to the east of the Mississippi River and for areas east of the Appalachians on Friday.

Much colder temperatures expected in the wake of this front today from the Great Basin, Rockies into the Plains. These colder temperatures will be spreading eastward on Friday into the Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee Valleys and into much of the eastern U.S. on Saturday.
