Vietnam ???

Now here is a sore spot for me, and has been since I was a little kid watching the news every night with list of killed in action.
Why where we there, why was our men, and bombers held back, why Cambodia, Laos, and the CIA involvement ?

Vietnam even though a Communist country saw themselves as friendly to the US before the French dragged us in, or we wanted in for reasons not known by the average person.
