Re: Legends
The legendary Bat Masterson gave an account of the legend Doc Holiday. He said that Doc Holiday was about 5’10 and about 130 pounds. Though he was quite tall for those days Bat Masterson said that a fifteen year old boy could probably beat him in a fist fight which is why he always went for a weapon. He also stated that though he was regularly in confrontations he usually was in the right. Unfortunately YouTube is no longer allowing me to post their videos.
Re: Legends
Billy the kid is a legend. This story by Pat Garret who I believe was a sheriff of how Billy the kid shut down a six foot bully shows a side of Billy the kid that I didn’t know. Billy the kid I believe was about five foot four which may have been average height back then.

Re: Legends
I remember about Long, I forgot about it decades ago.
Obscure memories not worth being remembered maybe, maybe not.

Re: Legends
Perhaps Long was a legendary asshole if so many people have heard of him. This however is the first time that I have heard of him……… I think…… I know lots of assholes that you and every one you know have never heard of so this Long maybe just an asshole at the right time and place to be remembered over a century later.

Re: Legends
If he was built like Tyson was he would likely have been eating ears also.
He would just rush in like Tyson.
Ali didn't join in on the war because he had just converted to be Muslim, and used that as his reasoning.
His version of Muslim that I forget the name was a so called peaceful version.
Gotta love the smack Ali, and Frasier threw out at the time, I remember a lot of it.
Hell of a match.
I didn't know Frasier was helping Ali when he was banned.
Boxing was good at the time.

Re: Legends
I think I posted about him before, but here he is again, and if true he was a hell of a man.

Re: Legends
What an incredible man. Amputated his toes with some pliers, hiked across the Arctic and wrote so many books. Six foot seven was a giant in those days. With training he might have been able to become the heavyweight champion of the world. I wonder if he had a diary of his trip.
