Mysore (or Mysuru), a city in India's southwestern Karnataka state, was the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore from 1399 to 1947. In its center is opulent Mysore Palace, seat of the former ruling Wodeyar dynasty. The palace blends Hindu, Islamic, Gothic and Rajput styles. Mysore is also home to the centuries-old Devaraja Market, filled with spices, silk and sandalwood.

India has a great past, and luckily it was a temperate area during the ice age so it could flourish.
I always wanted to go see the great mountain temples, and other sites made before most recorded history.

The people smell here, and we all have access to clean water, and showers on the most part.
They are a third world country turning second, and some parts first world.
I'm sure some of your people smelled before access to clean water also, most our people did in most the world.

Sorry, but I admire the peoples great past, and possible future if they can get past the religious, and class system they have.

Koreans here are the stinkers, but they think we smell also.
In Vietnam the Vietcong knew when the GIs was around, they could smell them coming.

The food is the issue as you bought up though, spices, and stuff like that can be bad.
Garlic is the worst, smells like crap, and people don't even know they smell is the funny part.
