We used to have a lot of those here, but the last few years I have not seen any.
We had some big pretty ones, with real shiny feathers.

Very nice photos, and the animals look content which is great.
Been a long time since I got to go to the zoo, I felt sorry for many of our animals at the time.
When I was a kid they had a gorilla on display which was locked in a cage in the middle of the walkway hardly big enough for it to fit in.
That has stuck with me since how bad people can be to an animal, and each other.

over here people want the zoo to be shutdown. There are quite the number of rescued animals that wouldnt survive in the wild. They house two bald eagles that were injured and can't fly high. Recently brought in 3 baby black bears. Their mother died after getting hit by a car. The lone grizzly bear and tiger are kinda sad. There used to be 3 tigers. There are over 5000 tigers in America. Around 3500 tigers in the wild. America just keep breeding them. Some people have em in their backyard.
They are working on turning our zoo into more like a safari. Can never get good pictures of the big cats and bears because of the fence.

Yeah. Ever since Tina the elephant died back in 2004. And then there used to be problems with the hippo enclosures as well. It sounds like they got their act together, but it wouldn't surprise me to find out the zoo's days are numbered. Just like the Vancouver aquarium losing all it's whales, and the polar bears years back. Now all they seem to have are colorful fish and sea otters.

I don't like the idea of zoos myself, but they are, or can be educational, and like you mentioned some of the animals are rescues that wouldn't survive in the wild.
Zoos are good as long as the animals take first priority over profits, but you need profits to feed the animals, and make a better place for them.
Our zoo has got better over the years, but still take the profits over the animals I think.
If anything needs banned it's the exploitation of them like in the circus, or back lot shows where people shouldn't have them.

The Bacterian Camel looks a bit tired, and low on fat
The Musk Ox looks like he might have got into it with something
And the Zebra is in his prison clothes.
Nice pics RF, I so miss going to the zoo.

Looks like a dry gas-station donut.
