Actually i have always considered the giant first growth trees on the west coast as monuments to nature.

They are, and the older ones that isn't as big also.
It's a shame that so many was cut for no more than a fire, or building a shack.

I climbed on when I was 16 but I had to change trees from a red cedar to a hemlock or a douglas fir to get tot he bottom branch. It got a bit scary when I got so high. I had never and never will get that high up a tree.switching back to the cedar when I came back was quite nerve racking

Well they are like a skyscraper in the forest.
Last year I was in a 20 story office building with full glass windows, I was thinking of those trees as I looked down.

I like to look at old photos and visualise myself walking around in the scene. The pictures seem to come alive when I do this. According to quantum physics I may actually be putting myself in those times and places to some degree.

Some of those are very interesting. After reading a book on the prohibition the alchohol dumping, there is nothing wrong with that gorgeous woman in 1907 [ Kellerman I think her name is ]

I like seeing Ice like that fall, some just break off from the top, and crash. I bet the ice noise is loud there.
