I believe that it is a safe bet that we are barred from North Korea too  I think our countries are nicer places to spend our time from the looks of things anyways.

The Christians of North Korea must stand out even more so than they do in China. I read that only the Juche religion is allowed in North Korea. [ the Juche religion is worship of the Kim family ] Kim Jong Un must not be amused that there are 350,000 Christians in North Korea. The positive energy of the Christians will hopefully spread like wildfire there. The people there are so desperate.

The Invisible Christians Of North Korea: Surviving By God’s Grace Alone

If you think North Korea's dictators are bad for the world, just imagine what it's like to be a Christian there.

Anyone who knows anything about world missions and the global church knows about the Christians of South Korea.

According to the Operation World prayer guide, "From the first Protestant church planted in 1884, South Korea now has possibly 50,000 Protestant congregations," and 15 million Christians of all kinds.

It's also a missionary powerhouse, currently sending more than 21,000 missionaries to about 175 countries. Amazing!

But the Christians of North Korea? They're virtually invisible--though of course not in the eyes of the Lord Jesus! Operation World says that although no one really knows their true number, there could be as many as 350,000 underground Christians living in the slave state of 24 million people.

When you consider that the government there--whether run by the Japanese occupiers during World War II, or the current cult-like, totalitarian leadership--has been trying to stamp out all vestiges of Christianity for about 70 years, that's also amazing.

Tragically, and infuriatingly, up to 100,000 of these brothers and sisters in Christ are locked up in harsh prisons or work camps.

Where did they all come from, and how do they survive? Well, in answer to the first part, it's a fascinating story. Did you know that from the late 19th century until 1942, Pyongyang, North Korea's Orwellian capital city today, was known as the "Jerusalem of the East"?

According to Providence journal, "a Presbyterian medical doctor named Horace Allen ... became physician to the king of Korea and received royal permission to proselytize after saving the life of a royal family member severely wounded during an attempted coup.

Presbyterian and Methodist missionaries from the United States followed, and along with Catholic and other Protestant missionaries from other countries, they found Koreans to be receptive to their message in large numbers.

A quarter of a century later in 1910, Korean Christians numbered over 200,000, two thirds of them Presbyterians and Methodists, in a country of approximately 13 million people."

If the city of Seoul was receptive to the gospel, and it was, Pyongyang was even more so. Following a series of revivals in and around the "Jerusalem of the East," by 1910 the region was the most heavily Christian in all of Korea.

Of course, most of us know what happened next. After World War II, the communist regime of Kim Il-sung attempted to stamp out all foreign religions, especially Christianity, which was branded a tool of "Western imperialism."

Missionaries were thrown out, churches closed, and many Christians executed for their faith, with many more pouring into democratic South Korea at the end of the Korean War.

So how do those who remain survive? As with all of us, by God's grace.

Today, Open Doors USA reports, North Korea is the most oppressive place in the world for Christians. "Due to ever-present surveillance," the agency says, "many pray with eyes open, and gathering for praise or fellowship is practically impossible.

Worship of the ruling Kim family is mandated for all citizens, and those who don't comply (including Christians) are arrested, imprisoned, tortured or killed. Entire Christian families are imprisoned in hard labor camps."

It's no wonder that one North Korean Christian lady who escaped continues to pray a simple prayer she learned from her mother: "Lord, Lord, please help!"

And the Lord, through agencies such as Open Doors, is answering that prayer, providing Bibles and emergency relief inside the country as well as to fleeing North Korean Christians.

They're not invisible to Him--and now, I hope, not to us, either.

We have places just as bad, and hard for the poor, but they are not under threat like in Korea.
I find it really sad, and pathetic how they are there, and the propaganda like it's all perfect, and clean. You know what I I'm talking about.

I do believe that these stats belong on this thread. They also show that North Korea is no where near America's league.

Nine charts which tell you all you need to know about North Korea
As North Korea and the United States continue to trade threats, we have little idea how the war of words is perceived to the people of North Korea because the regime of Kim Jong-un maintains an iron grip over the population, carefully controlling access to the outside world.

World War 3 will be a very different war if these mini nukes in back packs are used. No doubt Russia and China have them. It must be horrible being in the North Korean army but not being in it probably means starving.

North Korean Defector Reveals KJU’s Disturbing Tricks on NK Soldiers

In an interview with the U.K. Express, a defector from North Korea who served with the military alleged that Kim Jong Un’s regime has a secret army of human “robots” willing to do anything for the state — including killing themselves in suicide bombings.

London-based Kim Joo Il told the newspaper, in an interview published Tuesday, that these individuals “live and die” for the dictator.

According to Kim, who defected back in 2005, the army of suicide bombers is actually of greater military importance than nuclear weapons or missiles for a state that can only hope to survive a war by waging it asymmetrically.

“The top level leaders won’t wage war. They know they can’t win the war,” Kim said.

“But there is a secret group, secret armies, undercover armies inside North Korea. They were picked by the military leaders and nurtured to be weapons and terrorists.”

Kim compared these armies to automatons with no thoughts of their own, aside from doing the regime’s bidding.

“They do not have their own personal belief. They are just brainwashed, they just believe what they are told. No one knows what they are doing,” Kim said.

“They live and they die for Kim Jong Un. That’s what they believe in. They are like robots, they don’t think for themselves. They could act as suicide bombers.”

When Kim was asked if he thought these bombers could attack nearby enemies like South Korea and Japan, he responded, “Of course.” And the biggest threat, he said, wasn’t a conventional suicide bombing attack.

“North Korea has been trying to make nuclear weapons smaller and smaller,” Kim said. “Not just to attach to missiles, they want to create so-called nuclear backpacks.

“They make the robot soldiers carrying the backpacks, infiltrate the free world and then fire the bomb anywhere they want, like suicide terrorists.”

And even if they can’t make backpack nukes, there were other WMDs they could use to wage asymmetrical war against their enemies.

“North Korea is already ready to send out the terrorists across the world, carrying biological and chemical weapons,” Kim said.

In an interview with Vice, the 39-year-old North Korean defector said that he joined the North Korean military at a young age and served eight years before defecting.

“I joined the army when I was 17. For men, it’s compulsory to serve 10 years. In North Korea, they have 54 academies that look like colleges on the outside, but inside they train people to become high-ranking officers,” Kim said.

“They make these academies look like colleges to avoid criticism, because other countries would say there were too many people training to be soldiers.

“I was beaten at least once a day for three years. Then I became a captain, and I assaulted people. I didn’t have any clue that what I was doing was wrong. It’s normal, everyday life for soldiers. People don’t know about human rights in the army. They’ve never even heard of them.”

Those kinds of conditions can play tricks on the human mind — disturbing tricks that could be enough to dehumanize their targets completely.

Given that kind of treatment, it’s no surprise that the North Koreans have a “secret army” of brainwashed soldiers. That’s scary enough. When you consider the success the Hermit Kingdom has made miniaturizing nuclear weapons, it’s absolutely terrifying.

I can't see China allowing the reunification of the two Koreas unless it was the North was the one in charge and this united Korea was loyal to China and not the USA.. This would either bode well for North Koreans or very bad for South Koreans. Perhaps Kim Jong Un sees his demise on the near horizon if he doesn't do something drastically positive soon.

The North calls for unification of all Koreans without foreign aid

North Korea has called on "all Koreans at home and abroad" to make a "breakthrough" for unification without foreign assistance.

The rare announcement, which was made via the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Thursday morning, called on all Koreans to "promote contact, travel and cooperation between North and South Korea."

It added that the North will "smash" all obstacles on the path towards the reunification of the Korean Peninsula, while stressing that military tensions on the peninsula were the "fundamental obstacle" for the better ties with the South.

Joint military drills with "outside forces" were also hindering the progression of ties between the two Koreas, it added.

PressTV-US, S Korea launch major air force drills
South Korea and the US launched major combined air force drills involving hundreds of aircraft from Kunsan Air Base, on Monday.
The reported noted that Koreans should engage in an energetic drive aimed at defusing military tensions and establish a peaceful climate on the peninsula.

The announcement was issued following a joint meeting of North Korean government and political parties.

The two Koreas have long had strained ties. Tensions recently skyrocketed with repeated North Korean missile and nuclear tests and increased South Korean joint military action with the United States. But tensions then subsided with bilateral dialog and mutual overtures.

PressTV-Koreas to march under 'unified flag' at Olympics
In a rare show of unity, North and South Korean athletes will be marching under a unified flag in the upcoming Winter Olympics.
Under a deal approved by the International Olympic Committee, the Koreas will field their first unified Olympic team in women’s hockey, and will have their athletes parade together under a single flag during the February 9 opening ceremony in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The two Koreas have also agreed to hold joint cultural events at the North’s Diamond Mountain and have their non-Olympic skiers practice together at a North Korean ski resort.

Isn't this an interesting history lesson. Kim il Sang and his toddler son fought the Japanese and won the war. This is equally as historical as Kim Jong Il in his first game of golf getting a hole in one at every hole in the golf course. There is a video and three slide shows including one with very unflattering paintings of American soldiers.

This would never have happened with Obama as president. Donald Trump has done yet another huge achievement. This is such huge news. I do believe that Donald Trumps amazing negotiating skills helped pursuade China to get on board in helping to convince Kim Jong Un to do the right thing.

If it's not a scam from the North it's great news, you can't trust that regime from past history.
In any event Trump did something no other could have being they really didn't want it, besides Kennedy maybe.

I dont think so. Kim wants American money to pull the NK economy out of the toilet. His only avenue is to normalize relations with SK and the US. At this point he has very little choice.

Just when North Koreas Kim Jong seemed to be having a change of heart he pulls this dorked out move. Can you imagine what horrors await these waitresses if they do get send back to North Korea ? No doubt South Korea isn't going to be fooled by nonsense this obvious.

The DPRK Called and Wants Its Waitresses Back © AP Photo / Dita Alangkara

Good serving staff is hard to find and harder to keep, and now Pyongyang wants those dozen waitresses who long ago fled to Seoul returned without delay.

Days after abruptly canceling a historic and highly-anticipated meeting between Seoul and Pyongyang, the People's Democratic Republic of Korea (DPRK) is now demanding that South Korea return twelve waitresses who defected to the south from a North Korean state-run restaurant in Ningbo, China, in 2016.

‘Completely Disingenuous’: US Practices Nuclear Decapitation Strikes on North Korea While Talking of Peace
The subject of intense debate when the matter first occurred, Pyongyang insists that the serving staff were kidnapped from their workplace while Seoul has consistently reported the defectors own testimony of free-will escape from a life of no hope and constant dictatorship.

The issue reboiled over recently following a new version of the events offered by Pyongyang in which the restaurant manager where the hapless servers toiled now states that he lied to the workers and instead blackmailed them into their defection — all while obeying direct orders from Seoul's US-backed spy agency.

Whether the twelve women are repatriated may compromise ongoing negotiations between Seoul and Pyongyang, according to a Saturday statement from the North's state-run KCNA news agency.

"The South Korean authorities should […] send our women citizens to their families without delay and thus show the will to improve North-South ties," read the KCNA news release.

The meeting cancellation and renewed demands by Pyongyang for the return of defectors flies in the face of a meeting last month between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, in which both promised to pursue peace and denuclearization.

An upcoming summit between Kim and US President Donald Trump in Singapore next month follows a rapid shift from last year's saber-rattling, in which North Korea and the US traded high-school-level insults alongside threats of nuclear devastation.

After last week's joint military exercises between Seoul and Washington, Pyongyang has "indefinitely" postponed negotiations with the South and has also threatened to cancel the summit between Trump and Kim.
