Re: Comets
Cool, it would be neat to capture it, and drag it to the moon

These meteors are entering all the time now. Is there something that they aren't telling us ?

Re: Comets
The US is like grand central for them from a map I saw once, many even hitting ground. I always wonder how many we walk over every day.
I found one once, it was magnetic, and polished black about the size of an orange, my aunt lost it when I loaned it to her.
Some are worth a lot, not sure how much mine was.

Mexican Meteor Lights Up Sky

This seems to be happening now almost daily. I wonder what math would rate the odds of a big one one day hitting and causing disaster ?

Re: Comets
I wonder if it hit ground, it's hard to tell how big it is from the photo.
It's funny that a small meteor can shine like that, and some of the bigger ones not as much. I guess it's the compassionate, trajectory, and size.

Ison Brightening & 2 Comets At The Same Time
This is going to be interesting. How bright will Ison get ? Those close up views of these two comets also will be interesting to check out. I wonder what new discoveries will be made.

Re: Comets
I posted about that someplace on here , maybe in the space thread .
I didn't see anything about it in the news other than online.

Re: Comets
All I can say is that thing must have hit a sweet spot with little angle to come in, it was not moving fast at all.

Mountain Sized Meteor Enters Our Orbit Every 3 Years
https://ca.news.yahoo.com/russian-scien ... 22867.html
A Russian astrophysicist says his team has located a huge, mountain-sized asteroid whose orbit crosses the Earth's every three years.
Even though experts say the giant object, known as 2014 UR116, poses no immediate threat of collision, its unexpected discovery underscores how little is still known about asteroids and their unpredictable orbits.
Vladimir Lipunov, a professor at Moscow State University, announced the find in a short documentary, "Asteroid Attack," posted on the website of the Russian Space Agency on Sunday. Mr. Lipunov says the asteroid, which he calculates is 370 meters in diameter, could hit the Earth with an explosion 1,000 times greater than the surprise 2013 impact of a bus-sized meteor in Russia. That object entered Earth
