But re. the OP ... my problem is the idea of shooting someone simply because they've broken into your house. More likely than not, they want to steal things ... and I would let them. I don't want them to die because they were dishonest.
If someone were trying to attack me I may be motivated to kill them (I think) and I certainly would be motivated if they were attacking my child.

I enjoyed his writings, I read The prince, and a few others of his.
The changing leadership always had him marked, but he sweet talked himself out of being killed every time.

Hey Frosty, I forgot to ask if you hunt? Do you own any firearms, either rifles or handguns? I used to date a guy that hunted....got to try elk, moose and venison. Even now we stock our deep freezer with farm raised elk. Yum, yum!
I don't hunt, but I do enjoy shooting at the gun range.
I have several pistols, and several AR-15s rifles, and pistol versions.
If I had to shoot an animal to feed myself I would, but rather leave the wild in the wild .
I'm all for hunting as long as it's respectful to the animal, and nature.
Don't over hunt, and kill only if it's a clean kill.

I'm hearing talk of an uprising if they try something drastic, I know they can kiss my butt on any gun ban I already own.

In the first half of Thursday's show, analyst of geopolitics and foreign policy, Craig B. Hulet, joined John B. Wells to share reactions to the news that the Obama administration may seek to ban some type of guns. Hulet argued that while the progressive left has been on the leading edge of protest when it comes to the chipping away at 1st and 4th amendment rights, they are working against supporting the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms. "Obama has threatened to use an executive order to ban specific sidearms or assault weapons," and this is both a violation and debasement of the Constitution, he declared.
"I think the NRA has long failed in protecting gun rights because of their approach," Hulet continued, adding that anti-gun groups/progressives make a better argument against guns "because they lie better" in their twisting of the facts. If we lose the 2nd Amendment, then there's nothing in the Bill of Rights or Constitution that won't go out the window, Hulet lamented, noting that privacy rights have already been heavily eroded.
Well one of the biggest lies is the calling of sporting rifles assault weapons, assault weapons are full auto weapons most people do not own.
You can buy them as long as you go through a major hassle of getting a tax stamp, and paying a ridicules price for the weapon.
I would like Obama to try the Executive order, my guess he would not finish his term in office.
Someone will file suit, and maybe even be impeached.
