Yeah well, I still think they are a bunch of arrogant, thick skulled assholes.

Thick skulls is a geographical thing from living there for a few centuries, jaws also. The longer people are there the more they will look aboriginal. 20,000 years or so some think.

This scene really shows the horror of war. I have watched the first forty seconds countless times already. All those Germans passing the camera don’t retreat passed it again and I doubt even one of them were taken prisoner. Each person in this video Is a story. I will need to watch that forty seconds many more times following different combatants.

All ghost of the past, mostly forgotten by the masses, pretty sad.
You watch, the people falling, the tanks rolling over them, the bombs drop, people run back, and forward again if they lived.
To bad this wasn't filmed in a modern style, you could see the horror of the dying, and maimed, the suffering, and desperation to live through it all. :(

This is the best video I have seen of combat in no mans land. What a horror. I watched a lot of times today again watching different people and many of them this was the end of their lives. Many lay squirming in agony on the ground. You can see the old bipllanes flying overhead and the first tanks. This must have been towards the end of the war.

The planes was dropping bombs by hand back then or there would have been more death in that film.
The Germans lost the war for political reasons, the men fought only for political reasons, and what did they gain, or any of them gain. :(
They gained an opening for someone like Hitler is all.

I don't see it as funny, that exposure likely burned his lungs. A lot wasn't ready when in the field doing stuff, Hitler even got into it, and it's what caused him to have the voice he had.

It's not his normal voice unless you count after the gas. In WW1 he was exposed, at least he said he was. In his loud speeches he has that gargling sound a lot, he was not loud in that.

It probably just irritates a little in small doses..

All of those troops in the trench were doomed because mustard gas goes through clothes and skin.

Spoiled European Monarchies and political hacks trying to show off whose dick was bigger.

WWI was a horror show;...like the American Civil War it was a case of weapons technology advancing faster than battlefield tactics. The result was horrific casualty numbers on all sides.

That's exactly what it was in both cases, most people don't understand how they used Napoleonic tactics in both wars against Machine guns, and the then modern artillery. It was a massacre, or straight out murder from the upper leaders.
You put all that with trench warfare, and the diseases that was spread it was I would say almost genocide by the ruling parties on their own people.

The battle of Tennessee in the civil war was trench warfare, it had the people eating rats, and each other in the end.
I feel for those people who had to witness all that, and live in that moment in time.

Calvary against Tanks is why the term Pollock came along. The Polish was using Lancers against tanks, crazy yes, but that was orders for those poor men.

I have watched this video over the years a number of times. Can you imagine the horror that would drive someone to this extreme. That scene from non mans land that Bluefrost showed showed what it was really like. it doesn't matter how good a soldier and fighter you are if you are in one of those platoons running into overwhelming numbers like that you are dead. No kind of Rambo could survive.
