I just looked the plant up, it has a mass of seeds that come off at the end of the life cycle.

The Asian Carp Invasion

Post: # 63699Unread post Gary Oak »

Are they a good food fish ? If they have lots of young and aren't as slick swimmers as trout then I wonder if they wouldn't make good food fish for the game fish. However I imagine they will just ruin every ecosystem they enter.

The Asian Carp Must Die

Post: # 77758Unread post Gary Oak »

If they can't be eradicated maybe they could be used to dog food and cat food.

Post: # 98147Unread post Gary Oak »

This spider looks very similar to a huge spider I saw on a Hong Kong island.

i worried a lot at work getting into bins of car parts from Asian countries, and South America, there is so many spider, and snakes that can kill you from there.
I saw spiders all the time, dead rats also.
the fruit, and veggies at stores can have them also, i wouldn't dig around much in them.

That's a scary spider, looks like a Garden spider a lot. Makes me wonder about one I saw on the house window last fall .

We have garden spiders here almost every year, but with those Asian spiders coming it makes me a bit weary of them.
they look a lot alike at a glance.

Invasive Species

Post: # 139174Unread post Gary Oak »

This gypsy moth in the top photo looks very different from the gypsy moths we have here in BC. I believe the gypsy mopths that we have in BC are also invasive. I often will wipe out a nest of them as they destroy a lot of trees. Check out the video showing the damage this invading caterpillar causes.

Sad to see, those will weaken the trees, and likely kill them. No leaves no food for the trees. Lets hope they grow back soon so they can live.

If these huge rodents get out of hand at least the Florida golden panther will have lot's to eat. I just hope that they can get rid of those invasive pythons.
