I have a revolutionary idea. How about everyone simply fly what they personally feel best about

oh,

and respect others' choices.

Over 99% of Canadians, including your community, will be raising our official flag.

"Our community". You and maybe a few others, if that. Check out your local Canada Day celebrations. You'll see nothing but Canadian flags as always.

Not interested and don't care.

its started yesterday in lieu of so called "Canada Day" [but did John A name it that?....NO!......guess what it was called, peanuts]. here were some musical types [veterans] dressed in kilts and playing the bagpipes, on show down at our main shopping plaza celebrating the Red Ensign, where they were proudly displayed. Between intermissions they would talk with the public about the significance of this proud Canadian flag and its continued [and rightly so!] existence. You can still fly it BTW.

Dominion Day. Of course. Now grow the fuck up and shut up.

Also in the realm of the obvious, you can fly any fucking flag you want in Canada, because it's a free country. You can even fly a Palestinian flag, the international symbol for mind-numbing ignorance. I might come to your house, douse it in petrol, and burn your god damn house down with it, but hey... you're free to fly such a banner until I get there.

Happy Canada Day, schnitzel.

Never said they couldn't. Its obvious very few Canadians now know of the flags' history. One can fly the Red Ensign, confidently knowing it was never decommisioned, on Canada Day knowing it was called Dominion Day by our founders, one being, John A McDonald. I fly mine as do others here on that day with significant pride-it's up now!

I don't understand that part of your statement. Obvious to who? And if they know now, what did they know before?

And shouldn't it stay that way? Very few?

expand, pls.

few know Canada's history today..and particularly why we fly the Maple Leaf today to celebrate a bogus holiday. It was perfectly fine as the Red Ensign when Canada earned its nationhood in defense of tyranny, sovereignty and freedom. Today's worship is a hollow one a political appeasement to Quebec\your background "gutter'Froggie"....ha ha ha, English-speak [so funny]

I asked a question and you respond with a few UN-WARRANTED insults.

I know you send your kids out on Halloween night looking like your wife.

And your stupid gay cousin who went to England a few years ago only to find-out Big Ben was a clock.

"Dominion Day" was so named by one Alfred E. Dominion, in honour of his goitre, which held dominion over his thyroid gland.

John A. MacDonald was beheaded in Montreal in the 1990s.

The national anthem was written by Bruce Cockburn in 1980.

The Red Ensign died on Camus II. He'd forgotten to take the safety off his phaser.
