I threw together a home made hamburger/veggie soup and a salad with about a dozen veggies in it. I have been eating two bowls of salad every night with my dinners recently.

Deep fried Mars Bars are a Scottish fave. the popularity of Fish and chips and other chippie fare encourage experimentation.

I really hate that I love fish and chips so much. It truly is an offering equal to ambrosia. =)))

the only chippie I've been to in Van is cockney King which I enjoyed, but to get the true experience you need to have the fish and chips to carry outside into a biting wind and horizontal sleet...no bollocks.

I'm hoping that Carthage Cafe survived. Steak/frites, couscous, marguez, moules-frites.

Genial Franco-tunisian ownership,

YES ! If for no other reason, than the amount of work it took them to get where they were pre-COVID.

Caprichosa with inferno sauce. Nothing fancy but highly recommended. Kids mostly order pasta. They say they make their own egg noodles and they really are beautifully al dente.

quite an extensive menu. I've been told that a generation or so back much of Commercial had an Italian flavour. Thanks for the tip.

I lived there for a bit in my younger days. Sweet little penthouse. One of the two places I've lived all around Van that I have the fondest memories of. =)

The natives took over the parks around commercial drive. They party 24/7. That park where the Italians played Bocce is all natives now. The RCMP recently got assaulted at the park near Joe's cafe on the drive. They were warning about a recent elevation in violence.

Extensive and expensive. His wife and he divorced. She has her own restaurant at 1st and Commercial in the empty mini mall. The food is good as well but she is an odd duck. I no longer eat there.

:(

Lombardo's is her restaurant. She also owns a Pizzaria downtown near the Burrard Street called Pacifico.

I could cook that, and because I'll use better skrimp than the chop sooey house, mine will be better than theirs. I'll use green onion though.
