New Orleans Jasmine

Unread post by asal » 05 Nov 2019, 13:40

Jass may have been the original word. Jazz may have come from Jasmine perfume which was popular at the time. Jazz came from street bands, not from the brothels (they wouldn't waste their real estate on music).

On the first Tuesday of the month they might have a free jazz performance by the Down on their Luck Orchestra. It's amazing - recommended if you can catch it. Watch their calendar. Grab a Muffaletta sandwich at Central Grocery across the street :)

Joe Avery's (second line):
Love It. Wynton Marsalis is too cool. I sent it to a trumpet player friend of mine.
