Is sous vide still a "thing"?

Unread post by Lochdubh »

It was all the rage for a while, but it has pretty much disappeared from the list of things trending. I have yet to see it or taste it, much less try doing it.

Ya but...young enough to know what's trendy. =)))

Sous vide has been around since the seventies....but became popular again 'today'.
It's really all about marketing trendy restaurant fare.

Everything that's old is new again. =)))

Unless you’ve studied what they have studied and had their experience, why would you expect to get it?

I had to google this, this is vacuum sealed in a bag, you cook it in water? I've seen this on some tv cook shows. I didn't know that's what it was called.

The popularity of sous vide was already winding down in 'popular cuisine' before quarantine. =)))

Always bargains at a garage sale... I got a barely used food dehydrator and orange juicer (shaped like a giant orange with green spouts)

...and a very high quality Italian stovetop expresso maker still in the box for 5 bucks instead of 100 bucks...

The last I've seen, on the Food Channel, it still is a thing.
