Christopher Columbus stature pulled down in Baltimore

Unread post by J0E »

...like...couldn't they at least allow officials to take it down properly to be put into a museum so that future generations could at least look a it?

Nice to see they are behaving like people in what they call "shithole' countries. Way to go.

Nancy Pelosi has a personal connection to the departed statue. Her brother who "passed" recently was Thomas D'alesandro III (Little Tommy) who was mayor of B'more during the Martin Luther King riots in 1968. Her late Dad had also been Mayor back in the 40's and early 50's when she was a lass. Pelosi and her bro raised funds for the statue and surrounding plaza. The Little Italy neighborhood she grew up in turned out with revolvers and baseball bats to protect life and property in 1968 and while the adjacent Black 'Hood lost every bidness to fire and pillage and the neighboring Little Israel suffered the same fate, Little Italy survived unscathed. Now they can't even protect one friggin' statue.

Bunch of savages looking to tear down a statue, any statue, just because. And then they dumped parts of it in the harbor.

Don't worry 'dubh, those old statues which symbolize social injustice will be torn down, and new ones representing higher ideals will be put up in their place:

...and everything will be different and better...a lot better!

...you'll see, 'dubh.

When the white backlash begins

Man shot as New Mexico protesters try to remove Spanish conquistador statue

Police name militia group member arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery as mayor condemns ‘unacceptable act.

Police in Albuquerque have named a member of a militia group who was arrested after a man was shot in the New Mexico city on Monday night, as protesters tried to tear down a bronze statue of a Spanish conquistador outside the city museum.

Authorities later announced that the statue would be removed until next steps could be determined.

The man who was shot was taken to a hospital and listed in critical but stable condition, an Albuquerque police spokesman, Gilbert Gallegos, said, adding that police used teargas and flash-bangs to protect officers who intervened.

Tearing down these statues is stupid. Good or bad, it’s part of our history.
