I was never into punk rock. I was aware of it because of kids wearing t-shirts. Unironically, they were smart kids with affluent parents rather than dregs of society. I was a radio babby. Liked the Hard Rock but was limiited to Van Halen and AC/DC. (sort of ... in my mind) The only thing I knew about Heavy Metal were the dregs who wore jean jackets with album covers painted on the back.

My friend, Ralph (RIP) gave me this cassette as a Christmas present. My first introduction to Metallica.



He probably stuck it in his pocket and stole it. LOL I would have been influenced later with Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer but this EP piqued my interest and got the ball rolling.

Garage Days is a great Metalica album. for fuckin sure.... their cover of Diamond Heads Am I Evil is perfection.... as for Slayer, HELL YEAH - SLAYER ROCKS....

you know how occasionally you get a stupid song stuck in your head and can't shake it? well.... i listen to this and its gone forever....

Holy crap that IS skater Harold Hunter bopping by the camera at 2:17 AND focused in the background with the dreads is Jon Carter, another NYC skater and both of them were in 'Kids' with Chloe 2 years after this music video was filmed. I read that Harold accompanied Chloe to this filming to help calm her jangled nerves because they were good pals, but I never spotted him out in this before, and spotting Jon too is just icing on the cake. I wonder if even more of her skater friends pop up in here. . This is just too cool- high fashion models, Sonic Youth, grungy skater kids, and a raver era Chloe all colliding to the tune of one of SY's best jams. Pretty sick indeed

Dumb story: I went to Lollapalooza 2 and mixed up the names of Tool and Rage Against the Machine. Never heard of either of them. I thought Tool was Rage Against the Machine. They were incredible! And maybe I thought Rage Against the Machine was Tool because the frontman was a whiny little annoying politisized fuck ... tool, dickhead, whatever. I couldn't enjoy the music because I felt like I was being trolled. (in an age before the internets when trolling hadn't been invented yet. lol)
