I bought a Vintage Playboy Magazine from 1956 today

Unread post by J0E »

It was a nice copy. Good shape

Heck, even the centerfold was still attached to the staples.

to have gone that many years with someone not takin it out is quite an achievement.

On the inside, there was no real nudity.

The centerfold shows no private parts, just her breasts and lower half of the body covered.

Pretty mild compared with today's standards.

It's somewhat like the new version of the Playboy where they now cover up the centefolds.

Still, it was nice to get a vintage mag that old.

... how much did you pay? i've noted that my old horror movie mags are not as valuable as they once were. eBay has washed out the collectability cache they once had it seems ...

... by the way, do you masturbate to the pictures in your vintage porn mags? the problem with that is the lovely young ladies in those vintage mags are either old and withered by now or dead ... :(

I paid about $20. It was what I'd call average condition. However, the centerfold was in almost perfect shape.

Actually I was surprised that they aren't worth more than that. An average copy can be had on eBay for about the same price, but in USD on Ebay:

Nope, no sireee Roberta! Otherwise, any stains on the mag would greatly reduce its condition, Sharkie.

Caint have that.

Sort of looks like a fantasy where a half naked woman shows up at the workshop asking for a light. Maybe she threw him in a bubble bath and scrubbed him up real good.

Lighting matches with filthy fingers & bloody knuckles once had a mesmerizing effect on women learning how to smoke

Cripes jojo. It took two months for you to save enough dough for a non-collectible Playboy mag? Limo business must be slow at YVR.

Betty Blue did pose naked in 56 but pics judged too racy for the times; her fully nudies were released in the 90s.

You want the Marilyn Monroe edition.

The Marilyn Monroe edition is prohibitively expensive, granps. It runs into thousands of dollars. I'd want a low grade reading copy but this is unlikely since most of them have been slabbed in plastic enclosures so they can't be opened up. I saw one slabbed at a local auction. It went foe thousands. I guess this issue is like the Canadian 1921 5 cent silver. It's a holy grail item. Most of the 1954 issues are quite expensive too.

The only reason I bought the issue is it said 1956. I never saw an issue that old. So I wanted to get it. But it's not a high value item, just sentimental value.

As for the centerfold, I admire the fact that she was a true beauty. That was her actual body as implants didn't exist in those days and plastic surgery wasn't that advanced. So at least the models were real and fakery wasn't nearly as widespread as ir is today. Sure there was photo retouching, but photoshop didnt exist either, and it was much hqrder to rely on this kind of fakery as well. Playboy and vogue magazine really did choose the most attractive models back then. They had to because they couldn't fake it.

Anyways, I gotta admit...Betty Blue was stunning in her day. What a 'natural beauty' looks like

What is it with Joe and Playboy?

Playjoe? Joeboy? Doughboy? Playdough?

Joe, while you're bent over busily assessing how a centerfold crease will impact the value of your beefcake wank rag, real women are walking right past you.

Story of your life, ifn you know what ah mean, eh Joe?

if you look at the complete image

you notice that the dirty fingers are in context

he is not a welder

he is an artist

the desk is filled with art supplies

a charcoal drawing is in the background

she is clearly posing for it

and they are taking a break

this was in the days of

“would you like to come up and look at my etchings?”
