Pretty mentally handicapped child

I saw one today.

she was so cute.

but it's odd that a girl who's mentally handicapped could also be a pretty child too.

Usually, they're not blessed with those attributes.

Quite a number I've encountered in volunteer work are quite homely.

Not just mentally handicapped, but physically deformed.

but this child was physically very attractive with a sweet personality.

Sad tho' - that the parents got a lovely child who can't speak, is barely aware of her existence.

They got one thing but unfortunately not the other.

so - it is too bad that she has the physical qualities but not the the mental ones.

Yes, there's truth in your statement.

This child doesn't appear to have the ability to speak nor likely ever will. She just lifts her head, nods in approval, moves her hands, smiles occasionally, then stares back out in space. The people who take care of her adore her, do their best to protect the child. but otherwise, she must spend most of her day in a room staring at a wall.

Someone so fragile & vulnerable - you hope no harm will come upon this child. I'm sure it'd bring a tear to the eye of more than one of you here if you saw her.
