Influenza and pneumonia caused 55,672 deaths in the U.S. in 2017, or 153 persons per day.

As a reminder, only 15 have died from coronavirus to date, the number dying in in any four-hour period from the flu.

so far .. Covid is expanding of course but true (uncooked by media ) death rate is less than 1 % ... somewhat less than flu, pnemonia. Sars etc

Well this is rather stupid.

I was checking to see if the Shen Yun performance is going to be cancelled, and this is the notice on the their website.

Important: Shen Yun Is Not From China
Shen Yun is based in New York, not China, and is in no way affected by the coronavirus situation. All Shen Yun performances will go on as scheduled. See you there!

As if New York is somehow magically immune. But that's not the point. The point IS, cramming 2000 people, shoulder to shoulder for 3 hours....all using the same washroom facilities doesn't seem like the brightest idea.

I think we are days away from seeing all large gatherings cancelled.

Just in:

US to stop most flights from EU for minimum 30 days .. except from UK

EU was slow to act seriously .. so is to a large degree is cut off

US cut off China much earlier in the game .. (got criticized and even called xenophobic for it)

Had EU cut off China early as US did (despite stupid accusations), this would not be happening

Italy is in absolute hell right now

I'm getting the feeling, that we here in North America, have this underlying attitude that things like this don't, or won't happen here.
Unfortunately, by the time people start to take it seriously, the damage will be done. Easier to prevent it, than to fight it after it's taken hold.

It was gutsy and smart .. I also hope people and authorities get serious ... .this is getting bad .. Italy is awful and of course is spreading rapidly to the rest of the EU like wildfire

Yup....gutsy and smart indeed. We've been a little slow on the up-take of the seriousness of this...although this is to be expected, when we are conditioned to the awareness that the media is notorious for blowing things out of proportion. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. =(

Yeah Trump had a hard time reading the teleprompter, and breathing like he was climbing stairs. His face was especially orange as well. I believe he’s lost in space, as per usual. Compared to global warming and the eventual melting of the ice caps in the extreme north and south reviving viruses thousands of times worse than the Coronavirus. The Buffoon as per usual is more concerned with his image, and now the bear market. Fucking shit show continues. I feel safer in the third world.
