The horses that pull that buggy in Stanley Park bolted one time. The driver fell out onto the grass before the out-of-control carriage slammed into a park bench, destroying it, as the animals galloped away.

I remember going to the race tracks with my dad when I was a little one. I didn't know at the time he was betting...I was just happy to watch the horses!

My uncle Birnie took me the track when I was in high school. It was my first time. He showed me how to box numbers. I did and I won. I never got hooked on it though. I have only gone a couple times since.

I had a friend who was addicted the races. He bought a condo right beside the PNE so he could go there a lot. He had pictures of the horses on his walls.

Hastings is actually a great track. An intimate venue that welcomes duffers. It's fun to watch the Chinese gamble and the harses prance.
